5 star price 4 star performance
I Love this iron I really do. It heats up fast it steams like no bodies business. However I am giving it four starts and this is why.* It does not have an on off switch, so I have to unplug the iron every time I am done and plug it in when I need it again ( it does have a "sleep" mode but it is not off). *Now plugging in and out is not a big deal and I would not mind it if the iron did not arc every time I mess with the plug. It is the iron that does this, not the receptacle because it happens no matter where I use it in the house. Mind you it is a little arc.......but you know that makes me nervous. *The manual says to use spring water and they are not joking about that I once decided to not listen to the manual (which I do often) and put my well water in it....Heavens to Betsy did that Iron get mad. It spit and hiss all over the place. So bottled spring water it is. *it uses A LOT of water....However it makes A LOT of steam. (This is not a problem just a heads up)So there it is I love it it does a great job but considering how much it costs ...I would like it if it did not have the problems it does have. This was a five star purchase and not fully five stars in my book.If you want an iron that really irons this one does... it is great. It just has a few things that I feel could have been remedied.

So far....very good!
I knew that I wanted to purchase a Rowenta iron, but wasn't sure which one to order. The reviews on Amazon helped me pick the Focus model.I must say, so far it is performing very well. I iron everyday and sometimes go for marathon ironing! Though I've only had it for a month, this is the BEST iron that I have ever had (and I've gone through at least six or seven in the last twenty years). I especially love the elongated slender tip of the iron that fits in between buttons and on collars of shirts. The steam is wonderful and it gets out wrinkles quickly. The stainless surface glides over the clothes. I hope that it lasts for a long time. If it doesn't, you'll be hearing from me:).HEY,,,,,it's now 2013 and I still have this Iron. The only negative that I can note, is that if I am marathon ironing, after a few shirts, water will leak out of the iron. I have learned how to predict when this will happen and have worked around it.I bought this iron for my mother because I love it so much!UPDATE: It's now September 2015 and this iron is still going strong!

Broke after 2 years
I expect this from Chinese products but not from a German made product. I have been familiar with Rowenta and thought I was buying a top of the line iron that would last at least for 5 years - really longer to be honest. I think the product was probably defective from the start as the green light never came on but the iron seemed to work fine in the beginning. Over the last months, it stopped maintaining heat, and then leaks on your clothes. Of course the warranty was only for one year. Very disappointed in this product!

Can't go wrong with Rowenta
I have used a Rowenta iron for as long as I have lived on my own. I despise ironing and was looking for a way to minimize the work involved in not looking like a wrinkled mess - I found the Rowenta and even though the price seemed really high for an iron, I tried it and have loved it ever since. My mom, on the other hand, doesn't believe in spending more than $12 for an iron and therefore, replaces them every year. I finally decided to get her one of her own last Christmas and she is now a convert! This particular iron is easy to use, it glides super easy on all fabrics. The steam function never drips or gets rusty. It is light-weight too.The price you pay for a quality iron is definitely worth it in the long run - you don't have to replace regularly and it doesn't ruin clothes! I would recommend this product to anyone who is willing to pay for quality!

Rowenta Focus = Booya
As a younger gentleman I have a natural antipathy towards ironing, it represents a great source of consternation in my otherwise insouciant life. So when my oldschool Rowenta Prolix broke, I took the auspicious opportunity to upgrade my piece, as I spend a wholly inordinate amount of time ironing for the workplace these days. Also, as a testament of how moved I have been by this purchase, we'll reiterate the fact that I am a younger gentleman, who generally doesn't write reviews for irons. To keep it succinct, the Rowenta Focus with it's 1700 Watts of alternating current power is mindblowing. This piece eats wrinkles like Rosie O'donnell eats cupcakes, with a voracious appetite for ever-smoothing your most wrinkled attire.Enjoy the German craftsmanship and buy this piece!!fo shizzle

Yes, its dead now
This is my third? Rowenta. It lasted 3 years, about the same as the others. I intend to buy another even though it is short lived. I was very annoyed at first, but then thought about the actually cost. The way I figure it, It still costs me under 0.75 cents an ironing session to use the iron, (just the cost of the iron), and they have all been, by far, the best irons I have used. The most steam and the hottest. I inter to by the new awful-looking (I think) blue one Even the looks won't deter me!
