Baking with the Cake Boss: 100 of Buddy's Best Recipes and Decorating Secrets

Whatever Buddy says to do, you do. I got this book, and starting in January, I'm going to go through almost every recipe, exactly word for word, like Julia and Julia. I'm doing this, cause I finally have a cookbook where I like everything in the book. From the simplest cookies, to more complex cakes the cookbook is well organized and written for the novice to the professional baker. I am a hobby cake baker, and am always looking for recipes. What better than recipes directly form the source? I've spent hours watching Cake Boss on TLC. I wanted so very badly to see Buddy Valestro when he toured, but didn't make it out to see him. I've learned so much form his show. With Buddy, I am able to add what I've learned from my Wilton classes I've taken, and expanded my repertoire. This cook book is worth buying. I like it cause it's not just cakes. Pies and cookies and other desserts, plus frosting recipes engrace these pages. It's lovingly written. The pictures are colorful, bright and inviting. Do your cooking a favor and buy this book. It will love you for this.

"Baking with the Cake Boss" is an outstanding cookbook. It's clearly written, by a very likable guy, user-friendly, and has some great recipes. Every recipe I've tried is delicious. However, I wouldn't have bothered to write a review if I hadn't been puzzled and angered over the negative reviews. Why so nasty? The negative reviewers don't have to get so hysterical in denouncing the book. They seem to hate Buddy. Also, why impugn the motives of the many people who DO like the book? I find this very offensive. You know, instead of the reviewers being part of a Deep, Dark Plot, maybe they just really liked the book. The naysayers also think it's "suspicious" that the positive reviews sound similar. Au contraire, it's the NEGATIVE reviewers who all sound alike, in their vehemence and vitriol. May I also point out that some of the shrillest reviewers urging people to Not Buy This Book! are not verified Amazon purchasers. (Now I suppose they'll run out and buy a book, so they can be verified purchasers when they launch their next attack.) Ignore the rants. "Baking with the Cake Boss" is an excellent book. P.S. Anyone who couldn't make ANY of these recipes successfully - for instance, the super easy, super delicious Double Chocolate Chip Cookies, has no business being near a kitchen.

If you are a big fan of the Cake Boss, then this book is for you. The ingrediants and directions are really detailed. The pictures are quite detailed as to how the fnish product should look. My only complaint is that I live in a small town so find certain types of ingrediats like almond flour for example, might be hard. But other then that, Buddy is quite detailed in his explaination and details. The pictures are great. The very least, even if you are not a baker, this would makea great coffee table book due to the pictures.

It was a great buy, I like the step by step with pictures since I'm more a visual and hands on learner. I was surprised to see the same recipes that was in the first book (I have) so I felt a little cheated there but overall it's a great book. I also read other reviews and had even thought that there could be no possible way buddy would ever give up recipe secrets, no true baker really does. But knowing that, he shouldn't have put those recipes in the book if he didn't want his fans to actually have the true version because that isn't fair to us. We spend our money on things we can trust, if it's a lie in one book, how will the other books turn out, just a thought.

I will start by saying this is a good book. "The Good" I love the way Buddy goes into detail for decorating. He explains decorating basics, walks you through the simplest cakes then step by step goes into a little more advanced. Great for the Beginning decorator. The instructions are clear and the step by step pictures are wonderful. SOME of the recipes are to die for. The chocolate mousse, Italian custard...Chocolate cake, icing recipes are spot on! yummmmm! Love his flavor suggestions for cakes.The reason I can't give this book 5 stars is:"The BAD" I was a little disappointed that there really weren't any NEW recipes. The same recipes can be found in his first book. If you don't have his first book then this is a good buy for you"The Ugly" Even though MOST of the recipes in the book are divine: WARNING! The vanilla cake recipe is the worst recipe ever! I am a professional baker as well but this recipe leaves you with a heavy cake that taste like pancake dough. I wouldn't even call it a sponge cake... I tried it twice making sure everything was exact. Both attempts, Big fat BOMB on this one!!!! I was very disappointed in this recipe. Hopefully it is just a misprint in the directions. All in all I would recommend the book!

I am an avid baker of cakes, cupcakes, etc. However, I was not a big fan of working with fondant until I read this book! Buddy gives wonderful tips and tricks on how to work and use fondant! I put his advice to work when I had an order to do 2 3-tiered fondant cakes. They came out beautiful, and it was much easier working with the fondant this time than the last time I did. I even steamed both cakes using my regular iron! I am not afraid of working with fondant anymore, and I actually can't wait until I have to do the next cake that requires fondant! Thank you Buddy for all your help!!! I couldn't have done it without you and this book!!! Looking forward to trying the recipes this holiday season and that includes the snowflake fondant cake for Christmas!!!

Who doesn't love THE CAKE BOSS..........I know I like the guy and he has a big mouth. He's also quite amusing and has a great sense of family. What's not to love? He is quite the baker and cake decorator. I could only hope to be ten percent as good as he is (I think he was born with baking in his blood).This book is excellent and I have tried several of his baking recipes. Good going CAKE BOSS.

It has lot of recipes to cook with attractive pictures in it.

Love it. After watching all the programs I had to treat myself to the book and I wasn’t disappointed. There are some great recipes and a few new ingredients that were new to me but make a big difference. Easy to follow instructions and some great pictures. For beginner and advanced bakers. Great present for that baker in your life and you would earns some big brownie points and get to eat some great cakes. I would buy again.

Buddy valastro is a cake boss. I like his way of explaining. The best show I have seen and I like his family unity.
