Premium quality crystal clear HD image projection
This is an outstanding quality projector. I've just upgraded to this from a 720p LED projector and this blows it out of the water in comparison due to the 1080p full HD output. It's worth noting first of all that this is a DLP projector rather than LED. The brightness is so superior due to how DLP systems work. It does, however, means that the projector is slightly larger and gives off more heat than a smaller LED projector, but the benefits far outweigh the slightly bigger size. This is extremely easy to setup. I've only tested it using our white blinds and living room wall, however the image is already really good without a proper screen being used. I can't wait to get the screen out and use this properly to see it's full potential. Setup is simply a case of plug and play, although you can choose different settings, colours, etc within the easy to navigate menu.I've tested this with my 1080p Amazon Fire stick. It couldn't be easier to setup, thanks to the HDMI inputs and usb power supply in the back. Most TV streaming devices that simply require a usb power supply will work from this. There's a focus and zoom ring on the top, easily adjusted via the sunk access slot. These will also stay tuned, even if tilted. The image is outstanding and the best I've seen on a projector, even compared to the expensive ones we use at work. The light output takes a short period of time to get fully up to full output once switched on, however it's extremely bright and, in my brief testing, was clearly visible, even in my lit living room. This will project o to a surface that's quite close. At 2 metres, it would still move closer and allow me to focus it. Likewise, on a 180cm wide blind, it allowed me to focus easily at around 3 metres from the "screen".There's a built in speaker that's perfectly useable for most purposes, however I'd certainly suggest using an external source for best results.I look forward to using this in our caravan awning when we go on holiday as it'll be like having a premium cinema system. Likewise, we like to watch movies in the gardening hot summer nights. With the brightness of this, I see no reason why we can't watch movies earlier on in the evenings now.Overall, this is a superb full HD projector that I can fully recommend. It's easy to use, bright and projects a superb and crystal clear image. There's also no lag in testing, making it also suitable for large screen gaming.

A keeper after much tweaking/tuning of colours
On paper this projector (X100-4K) looked like a fantastic deal for the price, and due to so many reviews being for other projectors I wanted to give it a try. (Also why I added the model) It’s not as quiet as expected based on advertising, but then it’s not terrible. There is a low audible hum that is rarely intrusive when watching movies. The projector is more than bright enough for a room with some light ambiance, curtains drawn better still but once it’s dark it starts to really deliver quite well. Out of the box the colours disappoint as were unrealistic and over saturated, so much so I was in two minds to return this unit. However, after several hours of tweaking this became very acceptable. I feel almost 100% there, but can’t quite get the magenta/cyan truly dialled in although it’s really barely noticeable 99% of the time. (I’ll keep tweaking) The blacks and contrasts are limited and to my eyes don’t seem to deliver on documented specification. That said at this current price it does give projectors at 2x or even 3x the price point a run for the money, plus there’s an added bonus of never needing to replace the LED bulb. The good:Quieter than most at this priceBright enough for most rooms even with some daylightCrisp crystal clear imageGood enough colour after extensive tweakingConnectionsGreat sound, surprisingly good bass mid tone and treblesPrice point for specThe bad:The contrast / blacks and dark scenes do suffer someSize (may be an issue for some)Hope this helps others.

Almost perfect
I really wanted this to be a perfect solution of a quiet projector and as far as fan noise goes it is really quiet, however it also has a high pitch whine which is way worse than the fan noise of my old Optoma HD143x.It is quite bright but out of the box and needs lots of tweaking of the settings to get a good looking picture. There is a lag from changing the settings to them appearing on screen which is really annoying as you dont think anything has changed. Be aware the unit itself is huge! Unfortunately I had to return it, couldn't live with high pitch whine. Since found out from other reviews this is a common issue with the x100-4k, if Viewsonic could fix that I could have lived with the other quirks.

As the promotional video hints, it is meant for a country manor and a typical urban dwelling!
On the plus side, The fans are just as silent as advertised, not to mention the crisp and saturated projected image! However, a 4K-Display means that even an 80" projection screen can be enveloped by the gigantic 3840 × 2160 projection! Resizing the image to 1920 x 1080 still leaves the white 3840 × 2160, intact! To go from bad to worse, once it finally tuned itself to a 1920x1080 display, sliding the zoom-lever to enlarge the picture rendered the entire screen, unrecognisable! Sliding the lever to its original position didn't remedy the situation! All that aside, when the promotional video pictures a large hall in a country manor, befitting this projector, it means exactly that!
