Wild Things07WT1 Complete Dry Swan and Duck Food, 1.5 kg

Reordered this as the first pack was so appreciated by the ducks and swans on the lake which I walk around several times a week . There is a slipway into the lake, which is where I used to stand to throw out the pellets, but I found I was getting ‘mobbed’ by the swans, they are quite scary when they are competing for food with the ducks! So I now throw from a platform overhanging the lake. What is really funny is that the birds seem to recognise my red coat and as soon as I appear I see them making a beeline for me from all over the lake! It’s like a scene from that old film ‘The Birds’ 😄

I bought this because when my local ducks had ducklings I liked visiting the babies, but my local duck pond feeder machine ran out of food and when looking for food in the meantime I found actually buying a bag like this was cheaper than paying for the machine each time. Another plus is that the ducks and coots in my local pond LOVE this stuff. When we go to feed them with it, we get a little duck stampede and feeding frenzy. They go crazy for it. It's very cute, but also a little scary - swear it's the little guys' favourite food now, they absolutely flock for it and lose their little ducky minds, sometimes it's like a duck gladiator pit to get the pellets and they will stand on your feet, beg, and shout for food. So the ducks (and friends) love it, the price is good, and even though they will happily eat a crazy amount of it in one siting, it lasts a very long time...All in all, well worth it!I wouldn't risk feeding this to swans or geese though...given how addicted my ducks seem to be, that seems like a recipe for disaster (or, at least, horror).I might edit this to add pictures of the little fans - some of them try to follow me home in hopes of more of this food, they like it so much.

I'm on my second bag of this first class floating pellet food. The ducks absolutely love it and the pellets are small enough for all but the tiniest newborn ducklings to eat. Geese and moorhens will also take them. Those are the only species on my local lake. One big thing is that these pellets really stay afloat, enabling even the more shy feeders to get to them. I left a couple of pellets in a glass of water overnight and they were waterlogged and swollen up but still floating. Being fairly dense it is possible to throw the pellets away from the bank a few metres so the ducks can eat them in open water. I really cannot fault this product and if the ducks could write reviews I am sure that they would be equally as complimentary.

DO NOT FEED BREAD TO WILDLIFE!!! This is a fantastic food for them. They LOVE it.

A few yards from our house we have a lake with 20 swans on. Although there are signs around the lake saying not to feed them bread (and listing what to feed them instead) people still constantly throw out whole slices of white bread. Out of interest, I had a look online to see if anybody produced swan food and was amazed to discover how much choice there is. In the end I ordered this one, as it had good reviews and people said that it floated. It arrived quite quickly and I took some out to the lake and the swans loved it and couldn't get enough of it, so I assume it tastes good to them. I took some out the next day and they gobbled it all up. On the third day, as I walked towards the lake, one swan spotted me and began swimming towards me and then they all came in a stately procession! So I give them some feed every day in this cold winter weather as it has all the right nutrients for them and it feels right to give them something that they obviously enjoy and is hopefully doing them good. I have found it better to sprinkle some in front of each swan and then they all get some. If you just throw out handfuls, the greediest will get the most and dozens of seagulls fly in too. Giving each one a little at a time, it is more controlled. Some reviewers have said that it doesn't float, but what I have received does stay on the surface of the water.
