Works beautifully on cashmere. I used the number 1 speed. Just don't push too hard and take your time. Good luck!

Is there a secret to turning it on? I put in new batteries and it won’t turn on with either setting.

No, and prepare yourself to use several to get the job done. I used 2 different sets, and the batteries died after 15 mins of use.
