Vornado VFAN Sr. Pedestal Vintage Fan Retro Metal Standing Air Circulator for Cooling & Decor 3 Speeds, Adjustable Tilt Green

This is my fourth Vornado vintage fan and my second of the pedestal style. I use it six months of the year when the house is hot but I leave it in place all year round because the style is lovely. The vortex feature completely eliminates the need for the fan to oscillate, which I really appreciate.

All metal, no plastic, quite heavy and sturdy. Runs smoothly and quietly. Very good airflow. We’ve had ours for 6+ years and use it all summer. No problems and no changes. Great looks and great function.

I may have gotten a lemon since I didn't see this on any other review, but on all three speed settings the motor emanated a deep low buzz/hum that uncannily sounded like an airplane approaching from a distance. At the highest speed, it sounded as though the "plane" was overhead with the windows shut. I left the fan running overnight in another room in case it just needed to break in, but the noise persisted the next day.What also bothered me was that to secure the height of the fan, you use a bare screw to bore into the pole. I weighed the head at 13 lbs, so it makes sense that you'll want to make sure it doesn't come crashing down. But even when applying light pressure with the thumb screw you'll mar the pole (see pic). Would it have cost that much more to attach a rubber or silicone tip to the end of this screw? This metal-on-metal method also applies to how the head and stand are attached to the poles.The aesthetics are definitely the highlight of this model, and I feel that small details were overlooked as a result. Yes you probably won't need to change the fan height once it's dialed in, but it's a bother to know that you're permanently damaging the pole with every adjustment you make.

This is hand-me-down quality. I expect this thing will last forever - it’s VERY heavy, quiet, and really moves the air around. It reminds me of the appliances from the 40s and 50s from your grandparents house that still work. If you want a fan that will outlast you, this is it.

Love this fan. Still going strong. Wish it came apart for cleaning but aces otherwise.

I'm a big fan (no pun intended) of Vornado fans. We haven't been able to put in home air conditioning so we use fans and air purifiers through the house instead. Vornado fans are my first choice. They are strong, dependable and good for years. This model is really an air circulator and works well even in our open layout of rooms on the first floor. NYC summers can be brutal and we made it through with this and two floor fans from Vornado. I like that the models can be cleaned easily since we have pets and it's easy for the hair to start clinging to the blades. I pop the case open and wipe them down weekly. Looking forward to many years with this model. We don't use the remote so I'm not reviewing that, but it's an excellent feature for anyone who may be handicapped or vertically challenged who needs to make adjustments. It's pretty tall but adjustable. A very well made model.

I was nervous to buy as it’s kinda pricey. I like the style and color and kept coming back to hem and haw.I live in a loft without AC. My hope with the air circulator was to get the warm air moving upstairs. The fan is not facing towards me and yet I can feel a coolness moving around me as if it is. I think this is the circulator doing it’s thing.It’s came minimally but well packaged with the sturdy shaped cardboard that’s easy to recycle. It was very easy to put together. I really like the aesthetic and the shade of blue green works with my home. I don’t like the sounds of fans and am often bothered by overhead kitchen and bathroom fans. I don’t find this van overly loud or in a high or weird pitch.The fan is very sturdy and well made. I am happy with it and think it should last me for years.
