The disc washer may help a little as long as you catch the spittle before it dries on your records, but you can keep that 40 bucks to spend on something way cooler if you just get into the habit of always listening to music with a really big cork jammed in the cat's mouth.

What is the difference in purpose of each of the two stylus brushes? ie, when would you use one over the other? Thx in advance for advice/answers!

The smaller brush (square head) is to clean the stylus on your turntable - the other brush is to remove dust and any other stuff visible to the naked eye on the record itself. Gently brush aside anything you see on the record (don’t worry it won’t scratch the vinyl) and then use the velvet brush to clean the record with fluid that comes with it.

is this the replacement of D2 from the 80's ?

yes...basically the same...velvet cleaner..fluid...stylus cleaner...I am satisfied..i have 2 of the old D2's from the 70's...fluid comp may be different...works for me though.
