Great machine for the money
I used to have Sage Duo Temp Pro and Smart Grinder Pro, but after 5 years of usage it started to wear out. The Barista Pro seems to be a nice upgrade. There are a couple cons:- grinder has a lot of retention, but I wouldn’t expect anything better at this price point- compared to Barista Express, it doesn’t have the pressure clockPro:- intuitive- great value for the money- customisable - brew temp, brew time- great looking- coffee is really tastyI was a little worried that Black Truffle variant I have got will be made of some kind of plastic (like the cheap bean to cup machines), but all parts that should have, are made out of metal. Haven’t seen any scratches so far, but had the machine only for a week now.Definitely 5/5 and I would buy it again - there is nothing better on the market at this price point for an espresso machine.

Great if it doesn't break down
Bought this in May 2024It then recently developed a problem with the steam wand and producing steam. This culminated in it now not working at all, despite total cleaning.Amazon will not arrange for an engineer to visit and repair it.I am expected to arrange and pay a 3rd Party to come and collect it after I package it and print a return label.Amazon say they then will cover that cost.I've told them I am not doing this and quite possibly try to sell it on EBay and let someone else come and collect it.I believe that maybe it was an early manufactured machine, now proven unreliable. However when working properly this is a great machine and I am about to order a new one with 'fingers crossed' and hope it is reliable!

Higher effort, but much higher reward
We bought this in March knowing we were about to spend an insane amount of time at home. Firstly, this is a lot more work then a Nespresso machine. You’ll have to clean up mess after every grind, tamp and shot. It takes about 3-5 minutes of effort to get a latte out of the machine. Also, every day, or other day, you’ll need to give the trays an empty, rinse and wash down to keep it all pristine. However, the quality it produces is miles better than any instant machine. It’s also heaps better than other bean-to-cup machines we tried like the highly rated Beko. Everything can be dialled to taste, including grind volume, size, and shot extraction. My wife is now a pro barista, and we’re doing our bit for the environment by not promoting wasteful capsule systems (despite being diligent about recycling very capsule). It’s not cheap, but for us it’s been worth every pound.

Pricey but you get what you pay for
In short it’s great. Not only looks the part, which is important at this price point, but it makes great coffee. I busted through a bag of beans trying to dial it in properly, and although that was a chore, it wasn’t hard. The setup guide is good. All in all the best machine I’ve had by some margin, beating my old Gaggia hands down.

Disappointing Customer Service
The machine is great, a few fiddley parts to keep clean and the bean to coffee filter always grinds too much coffee so makes a mess and wastes coffee. What is most disappointing is the machine was advertised and came with information about claiming a free barista pack worth £150.00. I applied for this and recieved an email saying it was being processed. I was then told that the machine did not qualify. Very disappointed as all the adverts, even on Instagram indicated it was part of the promotion. Sage have been very rigid in their responses and categorically told me they could not help me anymore, quoting they are not liable for for misleading advertising. The gift of the barista pack would have been a great addition especially when I spent over £600.00 on the machine. Very poor customer service.

don't give up!
looks fantastic and makes excellent coffee. I do admit it has been a labour of love getting it right. different coffee beans take different grind times. I had several failed attempts and through a fair amount of coffee beans before getting it right. you do have to purge the hot water and steam to get the temprature through. I have increased the Temperature in settings as it was not hot enough for my taste.

Measure the height between your kitchen units!!
It’s a nice compact size, does exactly what it’s intended for. I’ve had it a week and still haven’t mastered the grind size I need but that’s more to do with me than the machine! The steamer is exceptionally quick and easy to use. The only negative I have is, it doesn’t fit under my unit as the bean holder makes it too tall.. again, that an error on my part for not measuring the height 🙈 would recommend if you like a good cup of real coffee that’s not instant !
