Very good umeboshi
These are a favorite in my household, usually simply eaten with rice and seaweed. Since we eat them pretty plain, they have to have good flavor and texture, and these definitely do. They are plump, salty, and have that indescribable umeboshi flavor that we all love. They are a good value for the price.

Very nice
They tasted just as I remember them but was disappointed that were no shiso leaves mixed in.

Umeboshi are lead free
Stop this umeboshi slander. Do your research on California's prop 65 and why companies would rather slap the warning label than to pay for testing. HINT: there's no lead.

Beware--lead warning on label
I would not have bought this if I had known there were a danger of lead, but there is a lead warning on the label that was definitely not in the description. For the record, lead is a very harmful substance that can cause brain and organ damage, and most experts agree that there is no safe level of exposure. I am a medical researcher, and since I understand the dangers of the environmental toxins that are so common in our world today, I try very hard to avoid exposure to harmful substances through food, water, fabrics, household chemicals, or any other sources. After looking into why there might be a lead warning on my plums, I found that it is required on this particular item because plums from certain locations in Asia have tested positive for lead. The reason for this may be through absorption of lead that has contaminated these areas due to the use of leaded gasoline. However it got there, it is a tragedy that we can now no longer eat foods that were once safe for fear of lead poisoning.I am throwing these away, since it is not worth the risk. I will be buying US made salted plum paste in the future, even though it is not quite the same. I think Eden may be a US brand, but I am going to look into it.

Mmmmm salty plums!
These plums are fantastic. They are exactly how I remember them. There is a high salt content so be careful eating a bunch but I take the pit out and make umeboshi with them. Delish!

Perfect for what we needed
On the recommendation of a cancer nurse, we bought these for a friend of ours who had recently gone through throat cancer treatments and had lost the ability to taste, and produce saliva. These are just hard enough to wake up the senses in the tongue that had been deadened by chemotherapy.
