Time not accurate
I got this clock for my 40th birthday in February (it's now May). It's beautiful and the chimes are great, but over the past month it's been either too fast or too slow. Every day i'm having to tinker with the screw at the back to regulate the time. It suddenly drastically lost time for no reason. No matter how much I adjust the screw, it's still not reliably on time. I think it will have to be returned unless the company can help.

Lovely traditional clock (but see my update)
I bought this to replace a vintage (1930s) clock of similar design; the mainspring broke and the cost of repairing it would have been prohibitive. This modern replacement is well-engineered, accurate and attractive and so far I'm delighted with it. The wooden case is nicely finished and the brass bezel and hands look good against the walnut background. For those who prefer clockwork mechanisms to the more modern quartz movement, there is no substitute for the regular "tick" of a clock and certainly no electronic substitute for the resonant strike and chime created by hammers striking brass rods.I had assumed the clock would be regulated by a pendulum inside the case but this not so and it has a quieter and faster "tick" than my old pendulum clock. I would have preferred a louder and slower tick but this is a matter of taste. The clock is far more accurate than older mechanical clocks I've known which frequently "gain" when first wound and "lose" as the spring winds down. I have had this clock 2 weeks and it has kept accurate time consistently throughout that period. The clock can be regulated using a small screwdriver should it become necessary. On the upside, the clock is attractive, has a lovely mellow chime on each quarter, a resonant strike (counting the hours) on the hour and is well engineered and accurate. On the downside, the shut off lever for the chimes is inside the clock case, rather than at the front, which is a bit inconvenient. Also the front door of my clock sags on its hinge and feels a bit flimsy. It was also rather expensive but well made mechanical clocks don't come cheap.Overall, this is a very pleasing, well made clock.UPDATE: As noted previously, this clock kept accurate time initially and I was very pleased with it. However, after 3 or 4 weeks, it suddenly started to lose time quite drastically for no apparent reason and also to stop on the 6th day after being wound. This is not acceptable for a clock of this quality and cost and Amazon agreed to a return and full refund.I am very disappointed as this was a lovely clock and I would have expected a much better performance from a Hermle timepiece. I assume it was just a one off fault with my particular clock. Although these clocks have a 2 year guarantee, I couldn't find an address or telephone number to contact in the event of problems so I'm very grateful to Amazon for agreeing to a refund especially as the period for returning this item had expired.
