Great bargain hoist that performs!
I bought this to use after my old yale chain hoist got stuck. Needed one in a pinch and saw my friend had this same unit and liked it.Came in quickly, the unit wasn't damaged or missing pieces. I slung it to a rafter and after making sure everything was loose and worked as should I lifted a full size chevy cab off a frame. Then I lifted the 3/4 long bed off, the hoist performed flawlessly and was very easy to use. One hand operation, I pulled the chain down while I guided the parts with the other hand Its got an 8' lift capacity I believe but I know for sure it'll hoist at least 6' up as I had the truck cab almost touching my roof rafters. The unit was way lighter than my yale unit and in my opinion worked better with less effort. The chain moved freely and easily both raising and lowering. No complaints and I'm very satisfied with the price and performance of this unit.

Great Utility Hoist at an excellent price.
Works just as it should. I am able to lift heavy tools from my work bench up to a shelf above that keeps them neatly out of the way. It is also perfect for lifting and folding up my collapsible 4' X 8' utility trailer in my garage. Excellent value for the price.

Does the job
The unit performs as hoped. Our food pantry needed a means of "unstacking" double-stacked pallets of food, and this device does the trick. The only issue is the 8' hoist range--a little short, but adequate. Also, all the chains are clumped together (as it came), and the greasy hoist chains meant the pull chains were greasy too, meaning the operators always get messy hands. Dedicated gloves are a must!

Cheap and works all the time 90% of the time.
Like: cheapDislike: rough function (see "likes")It did bind up on the last few links and they won't feed under load any longer. Solution is don't let it down as far and use a longer connector chain. In all, it serves it's purpose: get the zero turn up and stable. If you're patient with it and have a bit of mechanical intuition it's a cheap solution to a heavy problem. If you lack the first two, save your pennies for an electric hoist because this will make you mad.I used it to lift the front of a 1,350# zero turn mower for deck service. For the ~$40 I'll buy a new electric one in 5 years when I'm not in my twenties any longer and this one has stopped spinning.

decent quality, handles heavy loads, easy to move to different location
I know it was a huge overkill, to order 1 ton chain hoist in order to hang a bale of hay for my horse - but considering how hard it was to pull HALF a bale up, and impossible to do it with a whole 65 - 70 lbs bale, it was absolutely worth it. Works like a charm, and every time the hay net is getting empty, I don't get the jitters anymore, thinking about the task of hanging the next bale.

Great for the price
Is it made in China? Yes. Does it lack that "really well-made" feel? Yes. Are much more expensive American-made versions probably better overall? Yes. Despite all that, did it work perfectly for me at a fraction of the price of those higher-end models? Yes. Out of the box I couldn't pull on the hoisting chain. I noticed that the chain had come dislodged from the gearing (presumably during shipping). After a few minutes of fumbling it back into place, this chain hoist has work been working perfectly ever since. I am very glad I didn't spend the extra money on a different brand. I have used it to lift up to 500 pounds with no problems at all.For those other reviewers, remember this thing lists as 8 ft lifting distance. You can mount it higher (say 20 ft) and add a longer chain (say 12 ft) to the end of it. But when you do that, you can lift an object from the floor to a height of 8 ft since that is the length of the hoisting chain (and the hook will stop at the pulley after 8 ft).For those of you who have never used a chain hoist, these things are fantastic. For example, I used it to lift a pair of 2x12x16 ft beams (>200lbs). My 4 year old son could pull the chain and raise the beams by himself (closely supervised, of course).

Honestly...it is legit.
Okay I was hesitant...a 1 ton chain fall for 30 bucks seems.... honestly way too cheap when you need to rely on something lifting 1-2k pounds. Immediately after unboxing I was like...oh crap .the bad reviews were right...the teeth don't work with the chain...I did so.e inspection and realized that the cotter pins (crappy cotter pins btw) were jamming up the lift chain. I bent them to stay out of the way of the links and now it works perfectly. Going to test it tomorrow and lift some heavy sh*t. I have a few chain falls (that my work owns) that cost 300-600 bucks each. So far, this is as good as any of them.If you're mechanically inclined and can replace/re bend the cotter pins, this is an excellent buy.Another MINOR issue (which could be a good thing maybe?) Is that they soaked the whole thing in oil and wrapped it in a Garbage bag before shipping. My box was soaked with oil and it's a huge mess to unbox it. For me...that's not really a problem. I'm glad they oiled it...even if it's a bit (ton) excessive.

Cheaply made, doesn't work out of box, covered in oil
As others have written, you get what you pay for here! The chain comes completely tangled, and it takes a long time to untangled it. Then, everything is soaked in oil, and anything it touches gets coated in oil! Finally, unless you want to take it apart, once it appears to be untangled the chain inside of the unit is tangled as well. I just gave up on it after working with it for a couple of hours. I had to attempt to then get the oil from it off of my clothes and everything else that came into contact with it. Your ruined clothes that need to be replaced will cost you several times the price of this unit! I am returning it for a refund. I will look at other more expensive options to replace it.
