Poverty and Justice Bible (CEV) - Canadian Edition Paperback

A useful acquisition for anyone interested in preaching and in social justice. Certainly focuses thoughts and impressions down a different and sometimes difficult path. This copy was the American version and occasionally the spelling is a little harsh but the "English" version was much more expensive. A small sacrifice to make and easily overcome.

This bible is excellent i especially like the middle pages which suggest ways of how one can help, it is also an easy read.I like the design of the bible too it is very simple and poignant.

An essential bible to help understand the twin subjects of poverty & justice - excellent & challenging notes in middle of the book.

I love that this Bible highlights every scripture in the Bible on issues of justice and poverty, it is especially helpful for me in the sphere I work in. Thank you and God bless!!!!

Useful book for Chaplaincy work

Nearly every household will own a version of the Bible,as it is the world's most widely published book, but this version is different in that in over 2000 verses that have been highlighted there is an emphasis concerning poverty or justice issues. Although originally written many years ago (this version is written in contemporary english) the issues raised are definitely 21st century and very relevant to modern worldwide issues of poverty and injustice.Strangely it is a book that it is best to start in the middle, with a section that is printed on coloured paper. For newcomers to biblical reading it is probably best to include the few pages around the contents at the start of the book, just to be able to find verses mentioned in the coloured action pages. To some it may seem like sacriledge to deface any book, especially The Bible, but here one will find that already a bright highlight has been added to many verses; i.e. those identified by the 'reader' giving emphasis to issues of justice and poverty. The reader is actively encouraged to add their own highlights to verses and passages that strike them as particularly relevant in their own situations, or those they encounter on their journey through life.For those more familiar with their Bible, they may find the verses highlighted will prick their conciences and stimulate them into action in a world that is so affected by poverty and justice matters.I have found this version very relevant to working in areas of poverty and deprivation, in the U.K., where there is often injustice due to circumstances in which many people find themselves. When applied on a worldwide situation these words are awesome, and could be a useful tool in helping to bring about changes for the benefit of all those who suffer due to issues of poverty and/or injustice.

Our Lord Jesus Christ was the greatest Social reformer and activist who ever walked the face of the Earth!. This Bible I am in no doubt has his blessing.
