This works great as an upright steamer as it gets very hot and it does not drip. The design makes it very easy to use. I appreciate the case it came in, which is heat resistant. It also works wonderfully as a traditional iron. I got this to replace a much larger, dripping steamer and am so glad I did. Travels well due to its small size.

I've had a few portable steam irons but none of them have ever performed as flawlessly as this one. As described, this little workhorse does not drip, which, if you have ever owned a steam iron, you well know is its biggest drawback. I showed it to my friend and told her I could "unwrinkle" a recently washed shirt in a minute. After a chorus of "No way!!!" and "I don't believe it!" in under half a minute, I did the only thing possible: I gave her my brand new Ovo steam iron, and immediately reordered one for myself. The fact that it can be used horizontally as a regular iron is just an added bonus for anyone that also sews. The price might seem a bit high, but it's well made and well worth it.

It's compact but powerful and easy to use but it gets a little hot to hold

I have a Reliable steam iron and like it just fine. I bought this to have a small iron easily moved to my sewing area. There are many things that did not work for me. I plugged in the big grounded cord to see if it was long enough--no it was not. It was plugged in for less than a minute and it got really hot in seconds--too hot for synthetics--there is no on and off dial--or temperature setting. You plug it in and it gets HOT. It is surprisingly heavy for its size. I unplugged it and after an hour the plate was still noticeably warm to the touch. So not good for travel if you are in a hurry. The red lint brush was broken. The tiny tab that holds it in place was broken off . The bag holds the iron, but not the cord or the little pitcher you use to add water. The cord is thick and three pronged and too heavy for easy maneuvering over small fabric pieces--the instruction say do not plug in to a circuit that has other large electrical appliances in use--there goes the plan to use it with my sewing machine--same plug in. I see this a being a potential fire hazard as it gets so hot. I returned and would never recommend this to anyone. Back to the search for a small iron that suits my needs. It is hard to believe that this unit passed safety standards. Don't let the kids get near it.

Very compact and light, heats up quickly, but only produced noticeable steam the first...3 uses. So within a couple of months it can barely do its main purpose. Very excited to have to buy a new, different brand STAT for traveling with formal attire.

I am editing this review. You can read the original review after I mention the most wonderful news about an obviously wonderful company. I wrote to Reliable Corp. just after posting this review and heard back from them within three hours. They are replacing my iron as a courtesy! They do recommend that I don't use the stand. Just lay it down on the silicone padded case that is provided with the purchase.I am one happy camper right now and will look to Reliable Corp. for future purchases.Below is the original review. I bought this iron to use when I piece quilts and need to press the seams. I love it for that purpose and works perfectly. It expels a great amount of steam. I hated to give this a 1-star rating for durability. It is a great iron except for the flimsy stand. I only had it two days before it fell to the floor twice, cracking the casing. The iron still functions, but I fear that the crack will eventually affect its performance. I plan to write to Reliable just to let them know that the quilting world would probably LOVE this as I do. BUT it needs a much better stand. :( I tried without success to upload two pictures to explain better what I am talking about.

Using this for sewing projects. One thing to know is it does NOT have an auto shutoff so it must be unplugged when you are finished with it. It gets very hot. It is so very handy!

I bought this mainly for small craft projects, and it's great for that purpose. Even more so and because of the enclosed storage pouch it's also great for travel. The steam output is perfect for this purpose. Very well made product. I would buy it again and recommend highly.

I use it for all my ironing needs, not just when travelling. I'm a single person though and don't have an office job so I don't have the same ironing needs as most people. This does the job for my purposes.

Ordered two irons.. my neighbour could not use hers because the plug to hold the water in leaked a lot. I used mine for about 3 months and it got so hot it scorched the fabric. Can’t use it as it is too hot. We contacted the company 6 months ago and have heard nothing. My advice is DO NOT BUY THIS IRON. The company does not stand behind their product.

OK for cotton and cotton-poly shirts, does not get wrinkles out of heavier fabrics

The first time I used it, and I bought it for the steaming, was a piece broke off, and the small piece of lint remover fell off. Not impressed with this item at all.

Too heavy and bulky to take on a trip!
