Traditional Butlers Bell Kit with Solid Heavy Cast Brass Pull

I could not fit as my cottage walls are 3ft deep. So had to reluctantly return but... if you have brick walls or a thick wide door frame space it would be straight forward to fit.. Good customer service and straight forward returns... would use company again.

Amazing quality product! Very thick and strong, doesn’t give a ‘reproduction’ type feel at all. Great material and works great.Only part I would change is the string doesn’t give the best resistance, might change for a sort of wire. But overall fab, very happy!

i had one in my other house that worked really well, but this is not as good and it does not ring that loud

Very pleased with our "Dowton" bell, goes wonderfully well in a period home. There was too much stretch in the nylon cord to get a good loud ring on the bell, so my husband replaced with copper wire which works well and looks a bit nicer. Very solid and well made.

Once installed it makes a nice feature. Bell could have a bit more volume, but can be heard upstairs if the house is quiet. Installation needs planning and patience. This was for our front door so going through two layers of Victorian brickwork. You need a long masonry drill bit and a mains powered drill. Make sure the pulleys line up. Getting the tension correct takes a bit of doing. I found the best position to be almost verical, not a sin the diagram. I also extended the clapper to get more tone and volume.

Perfect door bell. Oldfashioned,often seen in English films like Downton Abbey. My house is 100 years old, and it is perfect and everybode love it. I believe it's one of few in Sweden.The quality is good and it eorks very well and is easy to mount.

A well made and complete kit producing a very nice 'period' result. The brass castings have some nice details. The manufacturers clearly expect the bell to be installed by a person of reasonable competence who has the necessary tools. I would strongly recommend a good handyman for most.
