The squirrels were able to chew off the plastic screw and defeat the spring loaded damper. Then they stole the spring! I just installed these in March 2019 and was surprised that the squirrels were able to damage the feeder.

The design and physical format of these feeders is OK, we bought a 2-pack to get them as cheaply as possible.Unfortunately, they are only fair-to-poor in fit and finish, as they arrived with a lot of defects, including denting and paint marring- all of which most likely occurred at the factory because the packaging was undamaged.The defects did not make it unusable, just not pretty.They were easy to hang, hold tons of seed, and they look really sturdy and serviceable- but although they seem to be keeping the squirrels out, they also seem to be unable to attract birds.We've never yet seen a single bird on one of them- and our wildlife [birds] are not generally shy- they started eating from our suet feeder the very day we hung it.I will try to remember to update this review if the birds ever start to use it...
