More Yuri Goodness!
'Kisses, Sighs...' covers much of the same ground as Morinaga's peerless 'Girl Friends', however it is a much more experimental effort, which is both a strength and a weakness. Essentially a collection of short stories (some very short), the unifying theme is that they all take place in the same school, a la 'Strawberry Panic'. The central pairing of Nana & Yuriko is very much a re-run of Mari & Akko from 'Girl Friends', but is noticeably darker and edgier, with at least a hint of the real issues facing a young lesbian couple. Elsewhere, the stories range from sweet to slightly unsettling to downright weird (a lovelorn ghost takes possession of a snotty basketball player). Not the masterwork that 'Girl Friends' is, but an indispensable companion-piece nonetheless.

Pretty Yuri
I read this a while back before it was published in English. As a fan in the making, I really wanted to own some of Morinaga Milk's artwork in physical print.Between 'Cherry blossom pink' and 'Girl Friends' I slightly preferred the former because of the more complete and definitively happy ending for the couple.Very pleased with the quality of print and paper, the after-words by the author, and of course the beautiful artwork. I look forward to buying Secret Recipe once published.Highly recommended.

I loved this yuri manga and fell completely and utterly in love with both Milk Morinaga's art style and Nana and Hitomi's romance. However, I wish this book had focussed entirely on the one central couple rather than branching out - I felt myself wanting more of the main story and the coming out/teen angst plot line which was a major theme.

A sweet and touching manga
I bought this book on a whim since the art looked nice and the reviews were positive. I was a little wary since I've never ventured into yuri territory before, and assumed it would be more about fanservice than romance. I couldn't have been more wrong. The romances are handled fairly realistically and are actually quite emotional. The artwork is absolutely gorgeous- the best I've seen in the Shoujo demographic- and the whole tone of the comic really draws you in.The manga is actually several stories compiled together, although they all take place at the same school. The main and most interesting story is about childhood friends Hitomi and Nana. They are both applying for places at high school and plan to go together at Sakurakai, but in the end Hitomi goes to a more prestigious school: Tohou. It's only after they are separated that Nana realizes her feelings for Hitomi and they both experience the troubles and drama of high school romance- a homosexual one at that.I enjoyed this story the most because it was so passionate. This is not some ecchi or hentai manga aimed for men. It is immediately clear that the manga was made with a lot of love. (Although there is some mild nudity, but in my opinion it added to the romance and emotion and it is not distasteful.) It's very compelling and keeps you reading to the end. However the side stories are sadly where Kisses, Sighs and Cherry Blossom Pink loses a star. They are only one chapter long so the characters just aren't as developed and the stories don't draw you in the same way. I often found myself wishing I could get on with the side stories so I could get back to Hitomi and Nana. They don't add to the main plot in any way so if you want you could skip them, but you would miss some neat little references that add to the overall immersion.I highly recommend this manga for anyone who enjoys a good romance. The main story is worth a purchase buy itself. It's just a shame the others don't quite measure up, but don't let that stop you enjoying really wonderful, emotional storytelling.
