Great grill, minor issues
This grill does a great job of preparing meals! It heats up fast, is easy to clean (thanks to its reliably non-stick surface), and drains into a little drip tray (included) that you set up between its feet. It's healthier than using a frying pan and more convenient than setting up a barbecue (especially on rainy days or in the winter!).Though advertised as a five-portion grill, it doesn't seem to be much larger than the four-portion grill. I use it regularly to feed two, but have used it to feed four successfully. Five would be a challenge, unless most of them were younger children. Also, I've found that even when folding the rear feet out, a lot of the fat when cooking sausages or cheese toasties remains on the gril instead of running off into the drip tray. I've begun propping the back of the grill up extra high to try to get it to drain. (This wasn't a problem with the two-person George Foreman mini-grill I previously owned, so I think it's specific to this model.)Recommended, but if you have a large family you might want a bigger one - and if you're buying it to drain fat, make sure you prop up the back feet!

Good Old George
This is good. Really good. For the price you couldnt ask for much else. It does a job.The grill was actually bigger than we anticipated which was a very pleasant surprise. So often with these, you need to go up several sizes to accomodate the actual number of people being cooked for. In our case it was three and so we ordered this five portion grill. Now obviously you get what you pay for so in this case you only get the grill. No removeable plates and no temperature control but in our case, these havent been necessary in the past and arent now.If youre after a good, standalone grill, that does the job without breaking the bank, then I can recommend this. Go for it and I doubt you wont be sorry.

But my favourite was hulumi cheese
This cooks meat very very well - most of the excess fat goes into the special tray and the meat is full of healthy flavour. It cooks fish well too - although you don't have to cook it for very long if you want in moist. But my favourite was hulumi cheese, which toasts in a few seconds and is delicious. Another treat is veggies - slices of courgette, eggplant and peppers all come out with lovely barbeque line on theme. I would have given it five stars but while it is new the machine does leave an unpleasant smell in the room - I am told this goes after a time.

backwards step in george foreman grills
having bought 5 george foreman grills in the last 15 years for myself and gifts for immediate family, I have to say this latest leaves me disappointed. if this is your first, youd be non the wiser, but the last 3 (maybe 4 I cant be sure) had adjustable dials for heat temp, this was useful as you would put it on 'low' if you were going to put something frozen in (sausages or burgers) and wanted it ensure it was cooked through and not just the top and bottom which would be the case on 'high' but this, the latest I've bought in 4 years, DOESNT have that, what? are we going backwards in design and features? surely we should be progressing forwards. and to top it off, every single previous GF grill has come with these grooved spatula devices to turn over and pick up items from the GF grill, and this one is completely WITHOUT it! come on guys, really??, all the money you make from sales of these units worldwide, selling them for £20-70 each with some nice profit margins and you are going to try and skimp on some little piece of plastic that probably costs 10p per unit to manufacture - if that. and now i have to try and find one somewhere to buy or in the back of the kitchen drawer next time i go to my parents' house? what a joke. i tell you, nevermore a George foreman buyer in future, will try someone of the later entrants into the market and am sure they would have by now surpassed the design and features . total jokers. wayda lose a customer.

We should have bought one years ago
This is a brilliant invention. I warms up quickly - in a few minutes - and cooks very quickly. To cook some sausages takes about ten minutes in total - a couple of minutes to warm up, five minutes to cook, and a couple of minutes to clean the grill afterwards. That has to be an enormous saving on heating a conventional grill or oven to cook them. Our biggest learning, the first time we used it, was that you should clean it immediately you've finished cooking. If you let it cool down, then cleaning the plates is very much more difficult. We've cooked sausages, steaks, meat balls and bacon so far. With thicker items such as the meat balls, you have to turn them a quarter turn sideways mid-way, so that they cook through, but that's not difficult.

Brilliant product
Arrived very quickly and well packaged.Inside the box-George Foreman GrillDrip trayInstructionsThe instructions are very clear and concise and provide all of the information you need.Using this grill is a dream, simply plug it in and wait for the green light and your ready to go!It has a stand attached which is useful for storing the grill out of the way when not in use.I have found that cleaning this product is easier when it is still hot (care must be taken) and have recently purchased specific sponges for this task.I would highly recommend this product for anybody who wants to eat/cook in a healthier way.

George Foreman Good Value for Money!
Yes George Foreman 18870 Black 5-Portion Family Grill it was up to the usual standard we have used George Foreman's products for many years and they save money on Electricity and with healthy eating and also good value for money, :( the only down side with George Foreman Family Grills you cannot get replacement parts so you can fix them, it would be great if you could fix them as it appears that we seem to live in a throw away society which is very sad :(
