French menus but still good.
This box set is a French release. It's MGM cartoons rather than Warner Bros/Looney tunes/Merrie melodies but still Chuck Jones produced & Tex Avery (and team) behind animation & voices. These cartoons are considered for a more mature audience than the Looney Tunes. Most are 1940-1950's. They feature in some cases characters who would later on become Sylvester the cat, Spike the dog & Tweety pie. Droopy features heavily in this collection & a lot of cartoons feature that Wolf & the sexy ladies for the guys in the audience. The downside of this collection is that the booklet & menus are French only & hence finding your favourite cartoon can be a chore, particularly if like me you find the discs numbers themselves don't correspond to the booklet. (All pressing mistake no doubt!) There are 2 documentaries on disc 5, one in English the other in French but with English subtitles as an option. The cartoons themselves can be viewed in French or English language which I find great as if you're well accustomed with your favourite cartoon then learning French is possible. (Although you might end up in a French market sounding like Droopy!)So yes buy these but be aware of the fact it's a French box set. Why this is not released in the usa or UK yet I'm perplexed knowing full well they'd sell lots & amuse millions.
