Loxley Wood Organizer/Tool Storage Chest, Natural

Really love this box. It is well made and all parts fit together snugly. Absolute must for anybody with a good collection of soft pastels and allows sorting into shades etc to suit your own methods/style. One moan - the foam provided at the bottom of each partition is a little too thick but I changed this and also use some thin foam between each layer.Looks really classy and traditional at the same time; good strong handle and latches. Well engineered piece of equipment which will serve you for years and hold more than enough soft pastels and accessories.Obviously this can be used to hold other artist "bits" such as paint tubes and pencils etc, which also makes it highly versatile

I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of this box when it arrived. From the leather handle to the solid construction and good quality hinges. There is a great deal of storage available for a variety of tools and crafting items and it has helped me a great deal in organising my somewhat untidy work space. Wish I'd thought to buy something like this years ago, it would have saved me much frustration trying to find misplaced items.

The concept is superb and it works as a pastel store. It is easy to lift out the layers and is an efficient storage device.Why did I not give it five stars? The board forming the top of the lid was not stuck down correctly and was coming adrift and I needed to stick it down.This showed poor construction and quality control.

On the whole this is the perfect box for storing ( in my case) Soft Pastels and Oil Pastels. Sturdy yet well finished,with four lift out trays that boast up to 300 pastels storage or more. I wil certainly enjoy filling these trays up over time.It loses a star for two reasons, both minor, and if I could only drop it half a star I would.The first is the foam inserts, which actually completely fill the compartments they are in. So if I put my pastels on the foam ( for softness and safety) they sit proud of the level of the tray! Nevermind putting the pastels two- deep in one compartment ( which you can by the way), the foam then almost stops the lid closing. I would much prefer a 5 millimetre deep foam liner that just stops the pastels rubbing the bare wood in the tray. I will be looking into making these sort of foam liners myself as a result.The second is purely cosmetic, but made me a little annoyed. I bought this item through Amazon and it was supplied by Jackson's Art. On the bottom left hand corner of the lid Jacksons have embossed their name "Jackson's" in very visible 'burnt into the wood' effect. I didn't really want an advert for the shop on my product, or certainly not as visible! It is the only writing on a clean clear box. I would have been happier if it had said Loxley or the like.So for foam that doesn't really serve purpose and for blatant advertising t loses a star. Otherwise a very good product, fit for purpose.

I had high hopes of this box as most of the reviews were good.However , in my view , the box is cheaply made .I had loose splinters in mine and it seems very flimsy for the price.Also the chunkier pastels don’t really fit too well .I’ve kept mine as I was desperate for some storage for art materials and didn’t want the bother of returning...

This was a great price, the identical item costs much more from online art stores. Really pleased with this box which is well made and ideal for my growing pastels collection. Nice to have something traditional made of wood, instead of plastic.

I bought this box for my boyfriend to store art tools. It will need tweaking for this as all the compartments are small. It is meant for pastels, but it was the best value for money. It's a well made sturdybox. I want it for myself!!My boyfriend adapted the compartments to fit his clay tools and he loves it.
