Well Worth The Money
My Kreg 256272 K4 Pocket-Hole Jig arrived earlier today and here are my first impressions. Surprisingly, it is graduated in metric rather than Imperial. I had hoped it would come with the potential project booklet which a few You Tube videos show but not in this case. With the basic Jig you get 5 different size screw samples. 1”, 1.25”, 1.5” 1.75”, and 2.5”. There are 10 of each.As I bought this for a specific project the 2” screw I needed wasn’t included. The chap who decides what goes into each jig kit must be a relative of the entity who ensures I never win the lottery. The drill guide block which you adjust for the screw length and material dimensions was very stiff in its slide. After struggling with it for a few minutes it came out and after a close inspection I found the places it was chaffing in its mount. Ten minutes with a small ward file and it was a lot easier to adjust. One of the places the fit was poor was close to the graduations on the block. Be very careful here, the markings are only printed onto the block and I’ve no idea how durable they are.The instructions are keen to point out that it’s a good idea to do practice joints in pieces of scrap wood. As I was compromising to get a fit on a screw size I didn’t have this was an excellent idea. The ‘square drive’ head is a Goodsend for this. Screwing the same screw in and out a few times doesn’t make a mess of the drive socket. Try that with a ‘pozi’ or Philips and you’ll soon run out of screws.Great care must be taken over the accuracy of the saw cut on the mating surface. All the screws do is hold the joint together. The ‘flatness’, ‘squareness’ of the cut decides the eventual mating angles. Unless you do this every day then I’d opt for a chop saw.I’ve never encountered a drill bit like this one. It weighs a ton. It’s beautifully made and every edge is crisp and sharp. And it goes through wood like a hot knife through butter. Don’t chuck it in the toolbox when the job is done. You’ll soon bugger it up.In use the jig is very simple to use. The actual ‘inserting the material and drilling the holes’ was all over in 5 minutes. Add to that the 20 to 30 minutes setting up and experimenting it sounds a long time. However, compare that with hand cutting 10 blind mortise and tenon joints and I think I’ve saved myself about 8 hours. So, read the manual, practice and experiment, order more screws at the same time as you order the jig and sit back and admire you handiwork.

Well worth the initial outlay great well made jig
I researched this jig quite a bit before buying as I wasn't sure if I could justify the price for the occasional use it would get, since buying the jig and using it on several projects I think it was worth every penny!! I'd never used one before but there were lots of videos on you tube explaining how to correctly use the jig and it also comes with a decent set of instructions and a DVD. I think the first few times you use the jig it takes a little time to set up but once you are confident adjusting the jig is easy and it's very quick to produce the pocket holes and join pieces of wood together. The joints produced are strong and can be hidden or filled. The kit includes the Kreg Jig, Spacer Block, Stepped Drill Bit, 152mm (6”) Square Driver, Starter Screw Set, Starter Plug Set and Dust Collection Attachment. Everything in the kit is well made, decent quality and no doubt will last for years, I've used the jig with and without the dust collection attachment and it makes a huge difference, there's no mess at all when it's connected and it actually makes drilling the holes easier and quicker and clean up after is minimal.Kreg 256272 Jig I have mounted my jig to a board which I clamp to my workmate or bench and hang it on the wall when it's not in use.[...]

Very handy kit.
I really like this. I quickly did a few jobs with it and they turned out really well. The screws use a No.2 square head, the kit includes a long bit. I purchased a smaller version separately along with PH screws, Trend screws are compatible with the Kreg No. 2 square head on the screws.Prior to buying this I was doing everything with dowels (difficult to align, sensitive to tolerance of dowel, drill needs to be 'true'). This is ten times quicker (even if you have a dowel jig). Usually the pocket hole can be concealed and quite frankly a lot of manufactured furniture you buy also uses pocket holes, so I don't have a problem with that.

Great tool - not enough screws though
I had been looking at Kreg pocket hole jigs for a while and decided to give this one a try.It was delivered very promptly and I have already made the workbench from the Kreg website and a coffee table of my own design. The jig makes construction so simple and both projects were completed in a weekend. My only complaint with the product is there were not enough screws included to actually be able to make anything - shame the product description didn't specify what screws were included. I looked at the Kreg screws but can only find them on Amazon and I wanted to get started straight away so ended up buying the self tappers from local diy store - they worked fine.

It changed me from an poor woodworker to someone capable of building really impressive projects
For a long time I hovered over the link to buy this - coming back at the end of every project, trying to justify if it was worth the money. Eventually I bit the bullet and bought this jig. It changed me from an poor woodworker to someone capable of building really impressive projects. Using this jig I have so far built kitchen cabinetry, an office desk and a toy box. This is a sturdy jig that makes joining wood fast and strong. It comes wit ha DVD, which is well worth a watch as it will go through what is possible.Projects that used to take me days, take hours with this as I don't have to mess around with poor joints and waiting for glue to dry. Taking a little bit of time in the planning stages, making sure you can either hide or fill the pocket holes means you can build sturdy cabinetry quickly.Glad I spent the money.
