Fast Great tasting coffee! But plastic?....
I like the fast great tasting coffee this makes and at the ideal temperature too! Its a simple machine, easy to clean and light weight. Its not to big of a footprint on my counter tops either. And I opted for the insulated carafe as to streamline the power consumption and not have a hotplate consuming my limited amount of solar/battery bank power I use to run it. However, I'm an organic naturalist and am still unsure about the plastic components the hot coffee has to touch on the way down into the carafe. Not to mention the plastic reservoir you store filtered water in. Why can no one make a machine like this that is all stainless steal? I have always used an all stainless steel insulated french press for the last 12 years as to not let any plastic touch my water or coffee. But as I age I find that french press coffee is a little too harsh going down now and the process is getting tiresome. I'm happy about my purchase but am still weary about toxins from plastics getting into anything my family eats or drinks. If Technivorm comes out with an all stainless steel model sometime down the road I'd gladly spend the money to purchase another one and I feel many others would too. So lets get on it guys!

Not worth $10.
Coffee is life. And all I ask from a coffee maker is that it doesn’t take over my life… which is why this is going back.Let’s start with the cheap, brittle plastic pieces that won’t survive one caffeine-deprived drop on the countertop without a chip or crack. They used the knock-off quality plastic you find in generic Walmart toys, rendering the top of the water container, brew basket, and carafe top prone to cracking.Four of the five pots I have tried overflowed. I used the recommended filters, but the plastic brew basket wouldn’t drain fast enough to keep up with the water outlet arm. And I am not particularly interested in mopping my floor before I’ve had my first cup of coffee. .. although my floors have never looked better, so there’s that.Honestly, for the money, this coffee maker should be made of much better materials, have a streamlined water outlet system, and turn itself off. So farewell, awful little coffee maker. I’m going to find one that doesn’t make me cry before 7am.

Makes great coffee, but quality of build is questionable
First things first: It makes a great cup of joe ... and that is what it's all about. The issue is really in the process of making it. The parts that you handle seem flimsy. We've had the unit about a month now and we are always afraid we are going to break it when we make coffee ... and that does not make for a very enjoyable user experience. The cap for the coffee pot is made our of plastic. You need to unscrew the cap from the coffee pot enough to pour. The issue is that the plastic expands when exposed to the heat of the coffee. Therefore, trying to unscrew it is difficult because it gets stuck on the coffee pot. Again, just not a great user experience. I dunno ... we've had a few popular upper-end coffee machines and this one is a tad better than average, I guess. But, we probably would try something else next time.

Best Drip Coffeemaker
Best drip coffeemaker, ever. We have owned ours for 12 years. Still works like new. I have purchased 3 more as presents. This one is for my daughter and her family.

Great coffee, but….
I’ve had this for about a week and it makes the best coffee that I’ve ever tasted. So why only a 4 star rating you might ask. There are 2 reasons. First, some of the plastics used in this are thin and cheap in appearance. I don’t see them as a failure point, but the most annoying one is the base below where the thermal carafe sits. It comes out of place very easily when moved, such as a daily wipe down of the counter top. Once you understand how it goes in place it’s easy to get back into position, but this is a design flaw that needs to be addressed. Second, the carafe needs a better pout spout. It’s omnidirectional, meaning that you can pour from it from any position, all 360 degreaser, but it should have a distinct pour spout so that it pours better into a mug or coffee cup.In all I’m happy with it, but for a few dollars it could be improved. At this price point it should have these improvements.
