Black filter isn’t as thick…
I ordered these to replace the original filters that came with my air purifier. I looked up the kind I needed and these popped up. Once delivered they seemed to be the same size and type. The only difference I saw was that the first filter (thin black one) is not nearly as dense as the one that came with my unit. Holding it up to the light you can see through it much easier than the original. I just replaced them so we’ll see if it makes a large difference. I live in an apartment in dry, dusty weather with a large dog and usually run the purifier at night in my room.
