A good display item, but not to be held.
This is a good display, decoration item. It is not however intended to used for play. In the middle of the sword is a wide plastic screw to hold the hilt and dark plastic to the softer foam sword that holds the two together to make the sword. Also not that the sword takes batteries as at the bottom, it has LEDs that light up. So if one wants a neat decorative item, maybe costume item for a con or some such, it fits the bill. It will not, however, serve as a toy.

cool but not a toy
I bought it to play swords with my 5 year old son. Its cool and makes him think twice before whackin me with one of his nerf swords but ultimately it is not sturdy enough to really put up a decent "battle" plus it never really went together completely and it came shipped in 2 parts.

Awsome to behold but a little delicate
I bought one of these swords on sale from think geek and I am relay glad I waited for the sale. The sword itself is awesome but its a bit delicate. Right out of the box two of the lights on the blade didn't work and anytime the sword gets bumped or jostled the other lights on the blade flicker and threaten to go out. Also the foam is a bit on the softer side and seems as though it would be easy to rip or tear. I bought this toy hoping I could play with them with their foam swords but now that I have it in hand I am a bit nervous of tearing it up the first time I use it. Ill post updates as time goes on as I use and play with the sword.UPDATE: So I called think geek and they sent me out a new one (I get to keep both) and low and behold lights were out on that one too. As I have played with it the lights have gotten more "winky" in and out in a few places but the foam has held up well. There is a very minute amount of wobble where the sword attaches but it is barely noticeable. As I have continued to use the swords they have become a little wobbly where they attach. This is mostly something felt and not really seen fortunately so i think it deserves a pass. The foam is riddled with small dents dings and scuffs but no rips or tears. It is holding up far better than my kids nerf swords for sure. The lights seemed to get to a point where the ones that are going to wink are entirely dead while others are mysteriously fine. All in all not a bad buy. If you plan on cosplaying i would really treat it with kid gloves however as the lights are delicate and the foam scuffs easy.

Fun, if Flawed
Overall it's a nice sword with a decent heft to it, clearly not designed for fighting (but i've still had fun smacking it around! The dents in the foam give it character.) I think it's overpriced for what you're getting.

Great If You Love Modding Weapons
A very nice item i wrapped the foam blade in aluminium plumbing tape and it became more stiff and.useable. and i love to mod all stuff this is really good. but if tou want to maket it a great piece. prepare to put some work into it, but payoff is worth it
