How would you like to have your own personal ATM machine? This ATM-shaped savings bank makes saving money lots of fun. Just like a real ATM machine, it lets you swipe your own ATM card to see your account balance on the screen. Use the bill feeder to deposit paper money or the coin slot, which automatically knows the value of each coin deposited. The keypad makes fun sound effects as you make transactions, and for more fun you can make up and display your own bank name. When you're ready to withdraw funds, the vault at the bottom opens with a combination lock. Imported.

Many positives, some negatives
The kids love this bank as it automatically counts the $ as you put it in and gives you a total on deposit. However, what we don't like is there is no direct mechanism for reducing the balance when you take the money out. It seems pretty durable, except that the ATM Banks sign at the top looks like it could be broken off fairly easily.

cute idea
I bought this item for a 19 year old, just having some fun- and I was pleasently surprised. Seems to work quite well and has many adorable features- the fact that his balance was always available and up to date was a great feature.

24 hour banking for children is frustrating at times
I got this for my 10-year old son's birthday. The best part of the bank is having the combination lock listed underneath. However it is very hard for my son to get it done correctly. He was confused with the words "counter clockwise" and it did not specify to go around twice. There is no way this can fit the amount of money it claims to. The safe area is very small with the door being tempermental at times and not easy to open up after doing the combination. The ATM card is useless. The key to having the balance portrayed accurately is you have to press the withdrawal amount when you take money out and press the deposit money button to input money. It is bulky and hard to find a place to store. Nice concept, but we were frustrated when the door opened slightly and then I smashed it to remove the money and tossed it out.

Mixed feelings
This bank is great if you don't plan on opening it often (or don't want it opened by you children!). The lock doesn't work very smoothly, and usually doesn't open on the 1st try. It also does not recognize $1 coins. Counts them as quarters. Otherwise it is a great concept, and has taught my children that there needs to be money IN an ATM before it can be taken out and used. Both my children also like that they can quickly see how much money they have saved.

its ok
ok first of all i got this bank last year for x-mas and it worked great for like the first 6 months then my older brother kicked the door off (he didnt really even kick it he barely laid his foot on it and it broke) i put it back on but it still comes off when i try to open it. and what else i didnt like about this toy is that if your younger than 8 then you will need help getting the combination open even i have a hard time getting it open and im 12! i would reccomend the YOUniverse ATM machine instead!

Not what is advertised at all!!!!
I bought three of these from two different stores. All three shared the same problem: they do NOT do what they are advertised as doing. First, in the instructions included in the box, it says the ATM says 'Hi, and welcome back'. Not one of the twelve in the store did that, as did not the three I bought hoping to find a good one. Further, not ONE of the three would recognize a bill had been inserted, OR even let you add a bill using the 'bill' buttons on the top. My son and I both were thrilled with the IDEA of such a product, which is why it got two stars....for performance, it gets none.

Great motivation for saving
My [...] daughter bought this for herself with some money she got for Christmas last year. Since then, she has saved every penny (except for a quarter here and there for a gum ball) to deposit in her "bank". The digital display only excites her more as she drops in her change or dollars so she can see her savings increase. There is also a zero balancing button inside the vault so kids can start counting all over again rather than withdrawing all of their money first. It has helped her dramatically with respect to seeing the benifit of saving money and not wanting to rush to the dollar store every time she earns some money, and has also helped her with her money counting skills. This past school year she was introduced currency and it's values, and having this ATM machine made learning fun. However great I think it is, there are a few small downfalls that I have noticed. The 2-digit combination to unlock the vault and retrieve your money can be difficult for kids to open on their own. This can be benificial if you don't want your child to play with their money all the time, but can be an issue if your child loves to count their money and can't without having mommy or daddy opening it again and again and again... The second downfall is that on occasion the coin slot doesn't pick up the correct coin size, or counts a coin twice if tiny fingers don't push coins through properly on the first try. This leads to an inaccurate balance, and can be quite annoying. Finally, the vault is a little small and paper money sometimes gets stuck if not put in first before the coins. We are routinely exchanging change for paper bills to make more room to save. I can not imagine how [...] worth of coins could fit as advertised.Having said that, overall I LOVE this bank and so does my daughter. It was a great purchase on her end and it has done wonders to help her SEE her savings (on the digital display)rather than know she has a pig full of money.
