Simplicity in action. Heavy, well designed and it works (and yes I tired it). Not exactly an elegant solution for long term use. I bought a couple for short-term use while troubleshooting parasitic drains. It works well and is just simple and straight forward. Maybe not a great solution for those seeking to unconnected RV batteries and such. I dunno. It works and I'm happy.

My car sometimes goes long periods without being driven. This battery cut out switch works great for preventing the battery going dead while the car is sitting unused. The only issue I've had (it has only occurred a couple times), is the screw used to switch the battery on/off, loosened while driving, so that I couldn't start the car until I re-tightened the switch screw. Not a huge issue, even if it occurred frequently, compared to having to replace an expensive battery because it sat completely drained, permanently destroying the battery (happened twice before I bought this cutout switch).My car is small. I'm not sure if this would work for a large truck (all the current has to pass through a small diameter screw).

The install was a little difficult because it seems like it’s made for slightly smaller battery posts than what are on my car battery. I believe all car batteries have the same post size so this is strange. The hole was too tight so I had to hammer it down onto my battery post. Then the post on the end of the disconnect was too small for my batter cable so I had to really screw the clamp down and basically deform it a bit. Then the way it is designed, the end that the car cable clamps to is supposed to drop down slightly when the screw handle is loosened. That allows the circuit to break. However the battery cable is stiff and pushing up on the disconnect so it wants to stay in contact. I had to bend the cable down and reconnect. Even then it just barely breaks the connection. My fear is that over time the cable may straighten and remake the connection. None of this seems to be the fault of the part so take this just as FYI.

I purchased this for use on an old pickup that might be used only once a month or even less.. before this was installed the battery would drain down just from the electronics on the pickup... After installing we have had no problem.. it is very easy to install.. just disconnect the cable, clean the post and cable end... Install the shutoff onto the battery and the cable onto the shutoff.. very simple to use and easy to install... I don't know why I waited so long to buy it...

Works great. I would buy again for my other cars. It is the easiest way to connect and disconnect the battery on a car that sits for long periods when you have other cars you drive more often.

This works OK. However, after a few months, it was more difficult to get a constant current without really tightening the contact bolt really tight. I ended up getting a knife switch.

Could not find the electrical short, so we used this. No more dead batteries!
