Perfect for intended use
Solid material and easy to connect. Makes storing battery easy with a few twists of the nob to disconnect power drains. Also nice don't have to completely take off the nob just loosen a little so no loosing the nob.

Works well where side space is limited
I found that most of these disconnects would force the battery cable to mount to the side of the battery, rather than the top (I actually bought two of the others first!). I found that not only was space limited on the side, but those required that the cables now be on the "end" of the battery, as opposed to the "side" (due to the limited length of the new connector), and the cables would not reach. On this version, the post is still on top of the battery, not on the side, and they worked better for my application (1995 Ford F350 dually diesel, which required one on each of the 2 batteries' positive posts). One does not have to take the "nut" off completely to break contact: just loosen it and shut the hood! Remember that most door locks are electric, so plan to use the key to open the doors later if you lock them. Also, the alarm will go off when power is restored, so don't let it surprise you as you're leaning into the engine compartment!

Handy gadget to easily disconnect car battery
I keep a car stored in another state so I don’t need to rent one when I fly there. Rather than disconnecting the battery to prevent discharge, I added this switch. It makes connecting and disconnecting the battery fast and easy. Plus it will be much better for my wife to handle when she flies there without me. My only complaint was the bolts were not the standard 10mm size so I had to search for a proper SAE sized socket. Other than that I would have given it 5 stars.

Good quality, easy to operate.
Good quality disconnects. I use them to isolate my starting batteries on equipment that sits for long periods of time where parasitic discharge can be an issue. Typical flooded cell starting batteries will lose 20% of their charge when sitting idle and most electrical systems will have parasitic withdraw which hastens dead batteries. Removing the battery from the circuit eliminates and parasitic withdraw. Just remember, the disconnect goes on the NEGATIVE post of the battery, not the positive post.

Poor quality casting
Worked fine for 2 months (used switch twice to disconnect power). Then car wouldn't start and it turned out the metal ring around the post had cracked and not longer made the electrical connection. Cheap price but I guess I got what I paid for.

Better than the type offered at AutoZone and Advanced Auto
Purchased this for when the vehicle is not being driven or used for extended periods of time so the battery won't drain from sitting long periods. The install was pretty forward and easy, maybe 10 minutes at most. The only issue is the washer attached to the top of the battery post you connect the OEM cable to. The washer was a little small, and would not hold the battery terminal in place, so I opted for a slightly larger washer to ensure the terminal would not come loose. The plastic guide shim is a great idea, making it easy to disconnect / connect when needed.Overall, a quality product. I'd recommend

Color NOT red.
The construction of the switch is well within the price point. The description, ie, picture, depicts red. Switch arrived in brown. My project required red. Alloy clamp runs narrow, with an - indentation on it.

Works fine
Works well, but people need to understand that negative and positive battery terminals are not the same size. It needs to go on the Negative terminal; it won't fit on the positive terminal.
