The Interceptor pilot, he's suicidal and bloodthirsty.
What can I say this might be one of the best sets to come out for Star Wars X-Wing Alliance game. The upgrades are amazing besides getting two Push the limit, you also get two Royal Guard TIE Interceptor upgrade cards with allow you to have two upgrades per TIE Interceptor. You also get Opportunist and Targeting Computers in this set which can make for some real good offensive power plays. The Imperial Aces set also come with the most fun combat mission to date named "Mission 7: Cutting the Cord."Long story short the Imperial Player gets to use a special prototype version of any non-unique craft. Under the right conditions you can have a TIE Interceptor, or even a Imperial Guard TIE Interceptor, do 7 die damage with its primary laser cannons!!! Heres the run down. You have 3d standard with Interceptor, you get +1d if at range one. You get a +1d if using Opportunist or expose, last but not least you get a +2d if using the satellite that grants the +2d to primary laser damage. In total you are doing 7d damage for your primary laser cannons. To top it off if you are using a Royal Guard TIE Interceptor that is upgraded to RGTI you can throw in a targeting computer to reroll your dice rolls. At this point you might want to use PTL instead of Opportunist or Expose so you can focus and target lock but you will do on dice less damage. The new named Characters from the 181st and the Royal Guard are also fantastic. What can I say about the miniatures, they are fantastic. They did a great job with the new paint jobs for the 181st and the Royal Guard Interceptors. The only one problem I have is that the Royal Guard TIE Interceptor doesn't have the modifications it should. The mini is nothing more than a really cool looking Red TIE Interceptor. Although since we don't know to much about them maybe some don't have the full modifications...? Since I can't be for sure I am still giving this 5 Stars.

An upgrade on the T-65, but on the pricey side for what you get
Our T-65 X-wing has seen better days and I was very excited when the new E-wing arrived with just a couple of parsecs on it. The extra shielding and agility is appreciated during the inevitable encounters with the Empire on my daily commute. And it's fast too, with boost as standard - no need to continually open and close the s-foils. The sensor upgrade slot is a nice feature. I went with the cheaper Fire Control System option although Advanced Sensors was very tempting. Now for the negatives. It's already an expensive chassis and you've almost got to take the R4 astromech upgrade to help with your hard turns. This wouldn't be so bad in itself but it shuts off the other, more attractive astromech options such as an R2 unit. Why they couldn't have worked a bit harder on the handling is beyond me. Also, and I understand that they're supposedly 'experimental' tech, but the scanners are a pain. Yes, they let you get a target lock at long range, but not being able to get a lock at range 1 of an enemy ship is very frustrating and kind of negates the e-wings linked action options. So, overall, it's an upgrade on an x-wing. If they could solve the hard turns and scanners, this would be an awesome package.

The full potential of the Interceptor, finally realized
I am writing a series of reviews of the X-Wing Miniatures expansions. My criteria for reviewing each expansion is how well it can be used in a standard 100-point game, as well as the usefulness of the included upgrade cards. I do not consider the mission (if one is included). My ratings are based on the fighter's usefulness in semi-competitive play. If you just want the model and don't care so much about its usefulness in competition, I will offer a blanket review that all of these miniatures are outstanding for the price. They come pre-painted, and are usually very-well detailed. On to the play review:This expansion adds two very pretty models to the base game. Rather than the standard "This one's blue! The old one was grey!" repaint, these are quite distinctive models, and definitely stand out.Included in this expansion is a crucial upgrade: the Royal Guard Tie title card, which allows interceptors to equip a second modification. Now an Interceptor can rock Autothrusters as well as a Stealth Device, allowing it to add a fourth defense die as well as change an opponent's attack dice. This is the card that allows the Interceptor to be competitive, but it is only available in this $30 expansion set. The pilots included in this set are decent, but not top-notch.On the whole, this expansion, while it provides some very distinctive models, is not absolutely necessary to enjoy X-wing, or even absolutely required to be competitive with Interceptors.

Arrived broken in box
I have to admit, I'm pretty Irritated, that I ordered these as a gift, and as soon as i opened it clearly noticed one of them was broken. I would go through the hassle of going out to the post office, send it back, and wait for another one.but this was a gift, and I honestly dont have the time to do that. So I'm going to try some super glue and hope for the best... It was only packed with a couple air pocket things set beside the two boxes (ordered another set as well that was fine) no mention that these are fragile on the box. I understand that this may not be the business who ships these, fault. It very well could have been the postal service. But im just irritated. All of my ordering on amazon, and i have never recieved something broken before even opening it. So hopefully the super glue works. The other ship in intact, and is great quality. I know this is a great game, and i love how detailed the pieces are. Just make sure steps are properly taken to ensure the product arrives, not broken.

E-Wings never will replace X-wings
The blurb on the e-wing says it was designed to be better and eventually replace the x-wing but of course it never did because of the cost. I agree with this completely. The maneuvering dial is pretty amazing besting even the imperial tie defender in some ways but the cost on surprisingly low stats can’t justify the astronomical price. The e-wing cost between 27-35 squad points while x-wings can come in at 21-29 points a big difference. And yet when you compare the stats x-wings have 3 primary weapon, 2 agility, 3 hull, and 2 shields while e-wings have 3 primary weapons, 3 agility, 2 hull, and 3 shields. So essentially they upped the agility and moved a hull to shields, not really impressed. Personally I find myself reaching for x-wings over e-wings every time, the model is beautiful and the game mechanics are actually pretty good, but I find that the x-wings are more cost affective.

E wing is good!
This is a really good expansion pack if you like using high agility ships. E wing is great to have in a 100 pt. unit. because it has the same agility value as an A wing but has 3 atk and 3 shield. Hull value is the same and this fighter costs a bit more to use than the A wing but is worth having if u want a stronger more durable option. Pack comes with 4 pilots, most expensive is Corran Horn at cost 35 and Knave squad. pilot is least expensive at cost 27. No boost but ship can barrel roll and pack includes the flechette torpedo upgrade, (which is nice because good torpedo upgrades seem rare) a R7T1 and another astromech plus a few other upgrades too.

DIE YOU REBEL SCUM!!!!!!(or like surrender or something)
I bought this expansion pack along with the starter pack to get me started in the XWing miniatures game. felt it was very effective in my first round easy to maneuver great firing ability and even though it only has one upgrade slot with a card only used tie interceptor you’re able to give yourself two more meaning that you’re able you still able to use a multitude of upgrades to help you and combat overall good ship glad I bought it. P.S. this ship made me join the empire.

Good stats, poorest FFG model production line
From a crunch standpoint, if you were looking to buy it you've already researched it's pilots and cards so I won't waste your time with a review that tells you what you already know. It's good enough there even with the rest it gets a 3 not a 1 or 2. From a fluff/model standpoint, this is easily the poorest of all FFG's production runs I've seen and I own 85+% of all the X Wing game line. Minor but noticeable errors in the model are common, asymmetry where their shouldn't be, etc. Also I've yet to buy one from any source that didn't have more issues with it's base/attachment point than any other X-Wing ship. Not a horrible product as a whole, some good cards, interesting rules, neat named pilots, definitely a decent ATF for the Rebels, but the model itself... I almost returned the one Amazon sent me (always double check the models Amazon sends, you can't inspect them like you could at a store), on a 1-10 quality of model scale where 10 is I love and 1 is I loathe, it's a 5 even (and most X-Wing products are 7+).
