Alen T100 - HEPA Style Desktop Air Purifier

I bought this air purifier for the sole purpose of making my dorm room less dusty. It has done a fairly good job at that and gets rid of the smell from food (fast food pizza etc.). There is nothing amazing about this though I still have some allergies in the morning and there is still dust around my room. It is small and quite. If you take the filter out and put it back in you may notice a light whistle but if you simply take it out and put it back in, the whistle will go away. I have noticed no difference with the Ionizer. It does act like a fan and will cool down a room an insignificant amount.

First of all I did not expect any magic out of this device in first place. I bought it to have additional air cleaning in kid's room. I have no objective mechanisms of measuring if it really improves air quality or not. Subjectively I find air in the room more pleasant to breathe when this thing is running so does my family. It does not eliminate the needs for wet cleanup and most likely would not help you to get rid of odor if you smoke indoor, have pet or keep the garbage for a week. I would have given it five star if not the noise what is a bit over the level for such kind of devices if properly engineered. Not like it's too loud but definitely could be quieter. LCD panel is also too bright and there is no way to dim it or turn off aside from putting piece of duct tape over it.

The item was delivered today. I opened the shipping box to find a opened box. I looked inside and the unit looked like it had been taken out of its wrapping and the cord was not tie wrapped. I thought I bought a new unit not a returned unit or one refurbished. I paid extradited fees to get it here. I need it for work on Monday. I will look to see if the filter is in the unit and the setup guide. If it says to install it I will be upset.

I've been using this air purifier in my room for several years and it's still working fine. It is very quiet at the lowest fan setting. Even at the highest setting, it is not as loud compared to the other air purifiers being sold in the market. I mostly use it at night time and could tell the difference when it is not used in the room.

I'm not sure if the unit I received is working correctly? The first day We turned it on it was very quiet. It was purchased for a room with TV/ computer so the quiet rating of this purifier was important, We have two larger Neoair plus units in bedrooms.They are much easier to listen to on the "low" setting. On the second day the Alen T100 seemed to become louder. Even on low the sound is much more noticeable. Also in the room is plenty of dust still showing up. The sound it makes on the higher speeds plus the amount of dust makes me wonder if the one we got has a problem. We were hoping the smaller desktop style would be portable enough to take when traveling. So far I am not impressed & was hoping for a better experience from this one

After having our kids test positively for air allergies, we wanted an air purifier for the kids bedroom. I was mostly concerned with the amount of particles filtered and the noise of the purifier fan. I was very price sensitive. I was treating this smaller unit as a test- if successful, we would buy a larger, more expensive unit for the entire house. All of the Alen products rated well in online reviews and consumer feedback. This unit uses the same filter as the larger 300 model and I would guess is a similar unit for a small room.Because I cannot see the air particles, I am not 100% sure it works. But the kids seam happier and better rested. With the ionizer on, there is a pleasant 'spring-ish' smell to the air.We are happy with this air purifier and will get a larger unit for the house. I will strongly consider another Alen model.

I purchased this unit after searching for air purifiers that may help asthmatics. I have 15 month old twins and one has had numerous respiratory problems ranging from small coughs to pneumonia that had him recovering in the hospital for 3 days. Pediatrician suggested he may benefit from an air purifier so I did a little research and figured I'd try the Alen T100 before investing in a larger more expensive unit. Not only has this unit helped to decrease his respiratory problems, but it has also almost eliminated the dirty diaper smell in the nursery. I leave the ion setting on and turn the fan on to the highest setting with the nursery door closed. At night I switch it to the whisper setting and they have no trouble sleeping with it on. So far I love this product and I am looking into buying another one for whole house use.

If you enjoy the smell of cheap plastic this alleged air purifier will be just the thing. It stunk right out of the box, and we aired it out, without running it, in our coach house, where we thought the summer heat might bake out the odor, for EIGHT MONTHS! STILL STINKS! The filter smells fine. It is the plastic this unit is made from that smells terrible. Ran it outdoors in a covered area for three days and it still stinks. Tried it in the room for which it was intended, and it made the room smell bad after running for about five seconds. If you want an air purifier, why would you want to breathe the toxic stench that emanate from this unit? AVOID!
