Works great for one room, even in a humid Alabama June. I love the white noise too.
Works great and SUPER easy to install. And yes it makes noise, but it's not more noisy than any window A/C unit I've ever heard. I actually like the white noise so that's a plus for me. Since it's on wheels you can direct the cold air to blow right on you if you want to. I'm using this thing in a guest house with no insulation. Even with the outside temperature around 85', I was cold last night with this next to me.My only complaint is that I do live in a very humid place (Alabama, June) and I have to drain the unit at least once a day, which is easy to do, but is a little bit of a pain. Since I was apprehensive about this part, I'll explain how it works. It's very easy. When it's full of water, it stops running, and flashes a "full" code. To fix that you just unscrew the cap on the back at the bottom of the unit, then pull out the plastic plug, and then water will spill on the floor unless you have a towel or a tray ready to catch it. I suppose you could set up a drain line, but I don't have a way to do that. I've been just draining it out onto a towel and putting it outside to dry, but it would be nice if there were a more elegant solution offered by Haier, like a small tray to catch the water to empty it. A cookie sheet might work? Even with the draining issue, I love this thing and bought a second one for another room.

Small and super easy to set up
My house does not have central air and it was getting hot at night. I have one small AC unit in the dining room/living room vented out the window but I really needed something in my bedroom. However, it was not practical to vent anything out my bedroom window, and I don’t like sleeping with air-conditioning on my face if I got a window unit.I set this portable AC up in about 15 minutes and vented it through my heat vent. The foam padding strips that were included, and the extra slats for venting out windows, and lots of tape, it’s working nicely! I am able to feel the warm air getting vented into my basement, which is naturally cool and has a dehumidifier running. This unit is small enough that it doesn't take up too much space in my little bedroom, lightweight that I was able to take it out of the box by myself (it was pretty much ready to go- just attached the vent tube and plugged it in), and the remote and controls are intuitive enough that I didn't really need the instruction manual. It is slightly louder than my other portable 8000BTU AC unit, but it's not a distraction and not noticeable.

Keeps things cool
Great little product and for the right price, especially since I cannot have a standard a/c in my studio apartment. It makes the same amount of noise as a standard a/c and does not take up much space. It comes with the window installation kit. However, because of the actually design of my window frame I ended up having to duct tape the slides/slats into the window frame instead of screwing them in. The assembly instructions need a little work, but I was able to put everything together all by myself. By the way the a/c is heavy so getting it out of the box was tricky. The best thing is that it comes with a internal drainage tank. I've had it since the start of summer and have not had to empty the tank at all. The not so great thing is that if it is 90 degrees outside, the coolest it will get the apartment is 76-77 degrees. Which is still good considering it is cooling the whole apartment and my apartment is situated directly over the boiler in the basement so there is always heat coming up through the flooring.

Decent for temps outside the hot south
I took a chance reading the negative and positive reviews and I have to say I'm impressed! I have a small 10x10 room in the corner of my house in Tennessee. So u knw it's hot here mid July---90*plus with high humidity and straight out the box this thing was putting out. I'm sure it could cool a 15x20 room easily. Definitely have to vent the hot air!!! This compact ac is the best bang for the buck. I knew haier had good products across tha board bc everytime I walk in a Best Buy or any appliance store I see there name so I knew I couldn't be making too bad of a decision. I'm cheap but try to make good cheap wise decisions lol if tht makes sense. Lol. Don't believe these negative reviews it lives up to the name. Nice piece. And blowing snowballs!! Definitely want to get a insulated duct pipe for the vent also. Glad I got this and hopefully I helped someone confidently make a purchase. It's worth the moneyUpdate: 9/16/19...Outside temp went up to 96 and it's struggling to keep the room at least 85. So I'm sending it back to get a 12k btu unit they say upsize the portables or/but I think Ima just stick to a faithful window unit.

Cools well & is relatively quiet...
This little unit cools well and is quieter than my last window air conditioner was. I’m not sure I'd trust it to cool off anything larger than a fairly small bedroom, but at 8000BTU’s it’s not really meant to.The installation instructions weren’t very clear/detailed. That said, I’m no handy-woman and it only took me about 40 minutes of trial and error to get it all figured out, it definitely took some patience though. The instructions really need to be rewritten. It transitions from one mode to another very smoothly, the controls are straightforward, and the remote is easy to use. It’s not whisper quiet but it’s not too much louder than a large fan.So far I’m really happy with it and would recommend it to any friends who are looking for a good little a/c unit.

It’s ok
Well the room I am trying to cool is under the square footage. It only gets kinda cool if it’s on for a few hours. It showed up with a broken wheel which I’m sure was delivery not the company so I did not knock the stars on the review for that. It is moderately loud not ideal for trying to watch a movie and have it running. I’ll keep it and move it to a smaller room and try another one.
