My first trainer: success!
I, like many of you, am guilty of reading too many reviews before I purchase something. After reading about how cheap, noisy, and hard assemble this trainer was, I almost gave up. Against my better judgment, I made the plunge. I’m very glad I did. This is my first bike trainer, and I couldn’t be more pleased, especially for the price point. I found the assembly to be very simple and straightforward. I did watch an assembly video, which was very helpful. It is much sturdier than I had anticipated. It is the perfect weight to be portable, but still sturdy enough that I am confident riding pretty hard. That said, I am 5’4” and 130 lbs, so I can’t speak for anyone larger than me.As for the noise factor - my biggest hesitation - I was once again pleasantly surprised. I live in a 2 bedroom apartment, and primarily work out in the mornings in the 2nd bedroom before my partner wakes up. I was worried the noise would bother him. Fortunately, it’s not even close to being a problem. I even tested the noise from the basement directly under where the bike trainer is, and it was almost undetectable. I don’t know what some of the other reviewers were experiencing with their claims of a noise problem, but I have not had that experience at all. It’s possible that they have an assembly problem.Overall, this trainer was a major win for me. I’ve been using it a few times a week for just over a month now and it seems like it will stand the test of time. If you’re like me and read too many reviews, let this be your last one! Stop reading and buy the thing!

Resistance is not as strong, but is workable.
I’ve wanted a bike trainer for so long, and I finally made the purchase. My bike doesn’t have a quick release, so I as worried about purchasing this. Thankfully, customer service was able to direct me, and I bought the extra piece in order to use the trainer with my bike.It doesn’t get 5 stars because it’s not perfect. The instructions included were not very detailed. The videos on their website helped somewhat, yet I still managed to put one piece on backward. That piece did not allow enough contact with the bike wheel...so I had to take it apart and start over. Also, one of the tools that came with the trainer did not fit the hexagon screw that holds the quick release, so I had to see if I had one at home to switch the part to fit my bike. Thankfully I did. Switching out the part was also difficult since it was screwed on very tightly (which is a good thing so your bike is securely held).Once I got the part switched, and my bike on the trainer, I was ready to go!I’m still getting used to the trainer. The resistance is not as strong as I imagined, but it works for me. It is not as noisy as I’ve read on other reviews. I do have a hybrid road/mountain bike with thread on the tires.I am glad I made this purchase! And I would recommend to others as well.

It is what it is!
Took about 15 minutes to assemble, the only hitch was the bolt holes that hold the black magnet unit on the yellow frame had heavy paint inside the holes, bolt would not make it through. I cleared the paint with a drill bit being careful not to take any metal. I even left a little paint to make sure. The rest of assembly went well. Used provided skewer, mounted and leveled bike as instructed. Did a wobble test by rocking the bike after mounting, had to move levelers a bit. It landed rock solid.Started out by peddling bike to its highest/tallest gears. Placed the Resistance Gear Level mounted on bikes handle bar to Level one. I worked up the levels to level six, it would have stopped the peddles had I not returned back to the lower levels, so there is a great deal of resistance to work with. I could see using the rear gears on the bike as medium steps between the levels to accent a measurable work out, between 2-3 or 3-4.I am 58 years old, was 270, but now 245 lbs and coming down I hope. Swim three days a week at the YMCA - 20 miles away from the house and wanted a bike work out inside my home due to the freezing weather this winter in Indiana. I hope this helps save some gas and give a good work out in a warm house.

Use a Crappy Tire!!
I went with this trainer over the vast list of others for the simple fact that it comes with everything. Set up was simple. For this to work with any kind of resistance for me I had to shift into the high gear ring in front and back. After doing that was the resistance knob was useful. After my first 15 min work out I noticed my new Gator skins where developing a flat spot in the middle of the tire(see pic). I was upset by this considering that there was no warning of tire ruining in the instructions and Gator's aren't a cheap tire. After switching to a old tire and my stock rear rim this problem was less of a worry. I did however include a picture of the flat spot on the tire I use full time for the trainer now. I ride on number 2 switching to 3 for hill simulation and number 1 for cooldown. Like I said at the top of the review, this comes with the skewer, and front tire stand which was why I bought. I didn't want to have to buy these things separate. After the second use or so I did notice that the skewer was bent. But it doesn't seem to be to big of a deal. I've never owned one of these before so I don't know if they all move a little when you pedal. But this one does. To the point that I worry a bit about frame damage. Over all it's ok. I've used this for over a week and there are things I like and don't like. Would I buy it again? I don't think so knowing what I now know. But I am still using it. Watching my frame paint for the first sign of damage in the rear area. Maybe I'm just paranoid. But now seeing some of the more expensive trainers for similar money on Craigslist. It makes me wonder if I should have just went with a pro trainer instead of the bargain. As is the way of things, you get what you pay for.
