Replaced finicky wireless sensor
Because it's wired, it has no batteries to periodically replace. You have a one-time hassle -- running wires from your control board to the sensor -- followed by a lifetime of "it just works". You need to do some reading of manuals to figure out where to connect it and how to register it with your thermostat, but you're a DIY god already, right?

Makes the thermostat more accurate
My smart thermostat installed with a new heat pump system is very susceptible to drafts from an overhead fan in the same room. Running the fan would make the thermostat believe the room was cooler than it actually was, keeping the A/C from running enough to cool the rest of the house. I mounted this remote sensor on the other side of the interior wall where the thermostat is mounted, and the problem has been solved.
