Dancook 1500 Charcoal Kettle Grill

I would have loved this grill...it's sleek, modern, and double-walled, but the packaging it came it was beyond terrible. Some parts were missing, the box was beat up and bent the edges of the cart beyond usable. We thought about trying to salvage what we could because the grill was supposed to be one of the best. But after trying to bend things back and seeing how many parts were missing, we decided to send it back. I'm so glad Amazon has such a nice return policy because this was in such bad shape, simply due to the packaging. We returned it and instead bought the Weber 1550 Performer Deluxe and really love it.

Good:Works great, seems to be better than other kettles (but it’s been a long time since I’ve owned one). I have a dedicated smoker, so I only use it for high temps. It does seem like having only the lid damper to control temperature may make it less suited to low and slow. It’s nice having the cart with some work area, although the work area seems smaller than in the picture. It was easy to assemble.Bad:I don’t think the box it comes in is designed for shipping. Both the top and bottom shelves were badly damaged. I was able to hammer and bend them roughly to fit correctly, but it looks beat up. The top part is bent enough to where the grill wobbles in the opening a bit. I thought about returning it, but it was the only one in stock and seems to be out of stock frequently. Most of the parts come with a protective plastic covering, which did a pretty good job of keeping them looking good... Except for one of the long pieces that hold the legs together - the plastic coating was adhered and wouldn’t come off. So the cart looks beat up and has plastic film stuck on one side. I turned it so that part is to the back, but it’s pretty annoying. And lastly, one of the holes to attach the cart to the legs wasn’t tapped for threads so the screw just sits in the open hole. Doesn’t seem to affect the sturdiness of the cart.Overall, I still recommend this grill. For the price, it’s better than the competing Weber kettle. With a little extra attention to the packaging, it would be great.

This is one of the best. Cooks great. Cleans up, fast. Their shipping cartons are on the flimsy side, but if you get dented parts, just call Saber Company, and they will replace them. I added a Cajun Bandit rotisserie, and that makes some fabulous food. The 1500 uses less charcoal, too. It has an inner liner. Enjoy.
