The best LED retrofit kits for recessed lighting
I recently bought the 6" Cree TW series retrofit kits for the recessed lights in a renovated upstairs bedroom. Before doing so, I bought one of just about every type of 6" LED retrofit kit available to try them all out. After being remarkably pleased by an EcoSmart kit (OEMed by Cree), I bought several of their next model up (NOT made by Cree). Installed them... and they buzzed. Apparently that's a common problem with the higher model EcoSmart. Returned them, bought the Cree TW's, and absolutely love them. So, when it came time to retrofit twelve 4" Halo recessed fixtures elsewhere in my house with LEDs, my first purchase was a Cree TW to test. I installed it this evening and am extremely pleased. With a 11.5W LED, this thing puts out about as much light as the 6" units, but from a smaller surface. As a result, it looks much brighter if you look directly at it (don't do that). The resulting light is very clear and crisp, and the 2700K color temperature is PERFECT if you are looking for a soft, incandescent-like white. I bought some 3000K kits from other manufacturers and found the light to be quite harsh. These are bright, but not harsh. I'll be ordering eleven more to finish my retrofit next week. Replacing 600W of lighting with 138W that probably won't burn out for as long as I own my house (and probably years thereafter) is a pretty tough deal to beat. It's worth noting that the Amazon price is about $5 per unit cheaper than Home Depot.

Excellent light
Perfect match for my existing Cree lighting that I originally purchased from Home Depot several years ago for my bathroom. Home Depot did not carry the original model number that I needed. Keyed the model number into the Amazon search bar and I found my model....right color and size. FYI, the light is great...good color and brightness. My light failed because I had an old dimmer switch designed for incadessent lights, not LED that messed up my light. Make sure you have a dimmer specifically for LED lighting. FYI...Cree has a 10 year warranty on the light. I called them and they not only educated me on my dimmer switch issue but sent me a new replacement light at no charge. Great customer service. I would buy again.

Best LED retrofit can lights I have found.
Best LED retrofits for can lights I have found.I've replaced a lot of can lights with LED (and CFLs before that - never again!) retrofits and have tried a number of models on the market. I have owned 4 different houses the last five years all with can lights so I've tried a lot of different options. These CREEs are not the cheapest, but are the best I have used thus far. They do not buzz, they put out good light, they are dimmable, they have a good trim piece that looks good almost all the time (the trim has a bit of a lip that some other retrofits don't have, that helps make it look flush w/ the ceiling), and they seem to be consistent from order to order (there are several other LED can replacements I tried where I thought I found a good one, then 6 mos later I'd order the exact same product on Amazon using hte link from the previous order, only to get something that buzzes when dimming or didn't dim well or had various other options.

GREAT!
These are excellent! I was so impressed with them that I have swapped out all my old can lights that had incandescent bulbs. Well designed and easy to replace the old can inserts. Actually looks better and "sleeker" than our old can inserts. We really like the soft white color balance and the low end of the dimming range is quite low when used with the proper LED dimming switch (we find that the Lutron MACL-153M-LA Maestro and companion slave switch works great). The LED light fits flush into the insert and produces a uniform broad light. This is particularly good for our back outside deck where mud daubler and paper wasps could get up into the can light inserts and build nests on the back side of the incandescent bulb. That won't happen with these since there is no gap between the light and insert.

Easy install, awesomely bright lights!
I had a hard time finding LED lights that were compatible with the housings I had in place. All of the other ones I tried had those spring things that you squeeze and connect to the housing. Well the housings in my kitchen didn't have those brackets to connect to the springs, so I thought I was kind of screwed. Even the lady in the Home Depot lighting section couldn't help me.Then I found these. And after monkeying around with different lights for over a week, this light was installed in about 2 minutes! It was seriously easy! The only tricky part was getting them flush to the ceiling. But a little wiggling and a slight turn and they were good enough. And so it went with six more lights. It took longer to move the ladder than install the lights! The daylight lights are super bright! So we also installed a dimmer switch in case it got to be a bit much.I'm very happy with these! Will probably be buying more! I mean seriously! They're supposed to last just about forever! No more changing light bulbs (which is a huge pain with my vaulted ceiling)!I hope this was helpful!

Extraordinary Reliability
I installed 24 of these in July of 2015 and have not had any issues whatsoever with these fixtures. I have a group of them on a dimmer and these are on about 16 hours a day every single day and have been for almost 4 years now. If you value your time and don't want to be aggravated with the low dollar options that experience continuous failure, pick these up. You will have no regrets. I sure don't.

Easy and quick install
In 10 minutes I changed three old pot lights into new Cree LED recessed lights. Simply unscrew the existing light bulb, remove the canister lining (leaving the pot light fixture in place), screw the Crew into the existing receptacle and press the LED light into place.
