My engine was gasping for air!
As I drove along my engine light would come on telling me there was a problem. Being a dedicated BMW owner I took it into my mechanic and he said it was the mass air flow meter in my induction system. After he told me that the cost to replace it would be over $350.00, I thought I would do a little research myself and see if I could do it. When I was much younger I used to be very involved in auto mechanics so I thought I could handle this. To my surprise when I did a google search, I ended up on Amazon and found the exact item I needed at only about $65.00. Boy was I surprised! After receiving the item and looking at the manual for the car, I found out the install is something most anyone could do. You only need a flathead screwdriver and it take all of 5 minuets. Needless to say I am very satisfied with my purchase at Amazon.com. It has been about a month and it is working flawlessly. My engine light does not come on anymore either. 2001 BMW 325i
The little pin sensor inside the tunnel is not OEM quality, but I have had both the worst(china) and the OEM types (Germany) of these MAFS....this one right here falls in the middle. I don't know what country it comes from, but it serves it's purpose. When I my OEM broke, I went ahead and got the china version (unknowing of the quality)...then I installed it. I went to go get a computer diagnostic done on my 3-series and the technician told me the my MAF is no good at all. Then I order this one on amazon for a decent price and installed it. I didn't bother going to the mechanic this time around so I don't know if it's doing its job 100% or not... Guys, all I can tell you is that this sensor is better than that dirt cheap China MAF on ebay.

Knock-Off Part DOESN'T WORK FOR BMW e46 325i
For $50 vs. $225 for the *real* VDO/Siemens 5WK9605 (actually 5WK96050Z, new part#), I was willing to give this part a shot just to have a 2nd MAF to compare vs. old, perhaps failing BMW MAF. My thinking was that if it changed the AFR, it would isolate the problem to the MAF; if it fixed the problem, even better.BUT... I never though it would actually work *WORSE* than the original 140K/Mi MAF that I had suspicions about. The car was running LTFTx around +8-10%, Lambda integrator swinging +/- 15-20%. With this knockoff maf, (after clearing adaptations), car started balky & rough, dying at idle when I'd give it any gas. LTFT's worse, +8-12% range, Lambda integrator swinging -28% to +28% (max limits). I gave it 2 weeks to break-in, no luck before replacing with old MAF. Scoped BOTH, knockoff had spikes and discontinuities, old MAF actually didn't look that bad - but AFT still where it started. Finally ordered real VDO/Siemens part, (much pricier), cleared adaptations... Lambda now staying green (+/- 5%), LTFTx adaptation now -2% to +2%.SO - not useful even to isolate the original MAF as bad. Perhaps this part is usable on the Hyundai Sonata that uses the same part, but on the my BMW e46 325i, only the real VDO parts works. I'm not a purist - I use knockoff parts most the time, but this one isn't workable - sorry.

Amazing difference after install. Dealer wanted 600 dollars for the same part!
Before installation of the new MAF, the car would stall out right way upon attempting to start it unless you gave it gas, then once you did manage to get going it felt like nothing was happening while accelerating for the first half mile. Then, the worst part-every 20 miles or so the car began to lose acceleration and I'd have to pull over and restart the car. It was horrible. Now, the check engine light has gone out and the car has all the acceleration you could need and then some! No more stalling, lack of acceleration, bucking, feeling like the car is going to die, etc.! Amazing difference for a fraction of what BMW wanted to charge me!

It worked!!!
It worked!! BMW 325i 2002. After replacing Vacuum control valve, all vacuum lines, fuel filter, gas cap, valve cover and intake manifold gaskets, oxygen sensors, intake boots and rebuilding the DISA valve I was frustrated and unable to clear lean codes P171 and P174.To my surprise this inexpensive sensor finally cleared the codes. I always used original parts but for the price, why not give it a try. I'm very happy, the sensor arrived on time and customer service wanted to know if I was satisfied with the product.. Awesome.

This part is not worth it.
Mostly, but not always you are skeptical when getting this parts. I am not an expert in mechanic but I do lots of research, by doing this you cannot be 100% sure a part will work, however is less risky. This was not a exception, and feedback is crucial so this mine.People talks about time, this can take less than a minute from unboxing, unscrew, installing and screw. I immediately notice a throttle and performance increase. I am happy with this purchase, since new part in Costa Rica can cost about $600 OE, or $400 OEM or used part $200. So this is worth it. I installed on e46 325i 2001. I hope this last many years.Update 17/11/16: This part allows my car to turn on/ Some Throttle is back, however scan shows bad signals coming from the unit, this was making my car to consume gas as crazy.
