Yes girls also need a pee guard.
After our first horrible potty with my first daughter- it was one with all the songs and pee sensor and looks like a real toilet. I HATED THAT THING. The hole was too small so half the time pee would go out, and it didn't have a built in guard and not having experience I threw the one away that was "just for boys." HA WHAT A JOKE. Girls still spray forward occasionally! It also had tons of places to trap pee and was a nightmare to keep clean. My youngest is 19 months and 31in tall and this is perfect height and depth. This time around I wisened up and bought the most simple potty that was still fun for my daughter. I went back and forth between this and the bjorn, but I kept reading reviews that the kids were sitting on the bjorns splash guard and getting scared of the potty. I was pleased to find this new frog model because the built in guard is slightly narrower than the old frog (that one has a guard shaped like an "m" and dips between the eyes). I like that it is not as wide as the old one because they don't have to spread their legs as far apart. This is really light which is nice to take in the car, it has a handle in the back, and very limited areas for old pee to collect and dry! After every use I spray with cleaner and after poos I scrub with a clorox wipe. It is so easy to keep clean. My daughter sat on it the first day and went poo poo and pee! We have been using this for less than a week and she already stays dry most of the time. She takes off for this cute little froggie when she has to go because it is so fun! I am still careful to help her sit so she doesn't sit on the guard and become afraid of the potty, but I definatly would rather do that than clean pee from the floor! And this has a more rounded guard than the bjorn so just incase it shouldn't hurt as bad. This is such a great price you can get one for upstairs and one to keep in the car!GET THIS ONE.

May work for early training....
My son turned 17 months and was fascinated with my husband and I going potty. We decided to buy him a potty so he could sit on his potty while I was going potty to help him get used to it.This potty is cute, my son loves to sit on it and it fits him (he's off the charts in height and weight so it's a good potty for tushy size). My complaints are:1. My son has a hard time sitting down on his own within the specified area and position. He can sit sideways on the potty but for him to sit forward facing (and get his winkie over the splash guard), he needs me to lift and position him onto it. This is fine for now, but I think we'll be searching for a potty where he can sit down in the right position on his own.2. The potty skids around pretty easily. He'll be backing up towards it and his heels with hit the potty sending it further back. I think this could work if you placed the potty in a corner so there was reduced movement but it's frustrating to him (and me) that a simple non-skid bottom wasn't added to this potty. This being said, perhaps it will work for others but unfortunately, until we pull the trigger and go full speed ahead on potty training, this will be our "dummy" potty for my son to sit on while I pee.

great for my small 2.5yo boy!
We tested out a couple potty chairs in the store before I decided to buy this one online based on the reviews and the great price! The Fisher Price potty that cheers, sings, and makes a flushing noise was a little too big and just too noisy for my little guy. The Bjorn potty was the right size for him to easily get on and off by himself, and he seemed to find it comfortable. But this froggy potty was comparable in size and even more appealing to him (because he loves the froggy face on the front). I love that it has a fully-incorporated splash guard that is smooth and unobtrusive, unlike the cup kind that seems like it could scrape him as he is standing up. It is very easy to pop the bowl off and pour the contents in the toilet, wipe it out, and you're done! He likes this potty so much, sometimes he doesn't want to get off! He will sit on it for up to 15 minutes at a time, looking at books, singing songs, etc. The handles on the side are a helpful feature because he grasps them as he is lowering himself down on the potty, and I hold them when I am emptying the bowl. He is 31 months old, but small for his age at 28 pounds. I think this potty might be too small for a bigger or older toddler, but for us it's perfect.

A little wide for our son, but no issues so far
First day we got this, we helped our son onto it. I read some reviews of kids hurting themselves on the splash guard, so I wanted to train him to sit on it before we let him play with it. To our surprise, he went on it once he sat down! No urine splashed onto the ground and it can hold a decent amount of liquid. It will take us some time for him to train on it, but he tries to sit on it on his own and almost tells us he has to go. Sometimes he goes on it, sometimes he doesn't.It is a little wide for him and he looks a little awkward sitting on it, but he's pretty flexible and it doesn't leave any red marks on his bottom. We looked at the Bjorns in store and we could see how a baby could get pinched with their design. With this design, it would be very hard for him to hurt himself on it. We may try some others, but this one works very well for our purpose and budget. And the eyes don't scare him!

Good training aid
Little one loved learning to use the potty with this, but be warned: hold the orange plastic down as they get up. A few times it stuck to the bum and nearly spilt as our little one stood up. Also for larger height boys they may need to learn to angle themselves down a few degrees or lean slightly forward to improve the downward trajectory of their flow. If they lean back slightly the front raised lip may not be high enough to fully block the stream. When done the orange receptacle lifts out for easy emptying and cleaning.

Great potty looks good not bad price either
Pottys can look so boring so we brought this one for the little one and she loved it she spend a lot of time talking to it, sticking her dolls on it while she sat on the toilet so although she didn't use it for its actual purpose it still helped to get her onto the loo. It now makes a very handy loo roll holder so not all that bad!

Fantastic
I bought this potty for my little boy after being disappointed by a smaller, cheaper one & I was really pleased with it. It is a good height from the floor and meant my son looked far more comfortable and happy to sit on it. The lip at the front meant he was less likely to miss and the size of the seat meant he could sit on it properly, unlike the one I had before. It's really easy to clean and empty with the removable orange part and my son loved the froggy design. Overall it was exactly what I was looking for and I would recommend it to anyone, especially if you've found, like me, that smaller potties just don't work for little boys!

Fantastic Potty
This was the 3rd potty we had tried for my little boy as he had struggled with the previous 2 being too low & not very comfortable. He managed to sit on this one with ease & no accidental "spillages". Easy to empty & to clean. Couldn't recommend highly enough.
