I've been using the cheapo from Costco all my life until this beautiful thing came into my life
OMG, I'm Asian, I eat lots of rice, I've been using the cheapo from Costco all my life until this beautiful thing came into my life. When the Cuckoo arrived at my house, I thought "hmm...motorcycle helmet with a digital display." I started to wonder if I made the right chose by spending so much money on a "rice cooker...."My life has been changed forever. After figuring out what I was doing by mashing all the buttons and listening to it sing to me, I finally got it to work. I waited patiently for 20 minutes while it made all sorts of wizzing sounds. Then it sang to me and told me it was done, goodness gracious, my wife doesn't even talk to me like that anymore!I folded the rice gently as instructed in the manual in the super heavy duty, dimpled and coated pot and smelled the wonderful aroma coming from the freshly inductioned, pressurized rice. I then performed the ULTIMATE test and pulled out the aged Japanese soy sauce and poured it caressingly over the steaming bowl of white fluffy goodness.I was hesitant to taste it because I've never seen such beautiful rice before, the grains had broken down perfectly and evenly. It looked like I had a bowl of clouds in my bowl with my godly soy sauce all over them. I wiped a tear from my eyes... Then I pulled out my 300 year old silver spoon out of it's protective mahogany case, rinsed it with boiling hot Evian and then gently scooped out tear drop portion of heavenly goodness. My heart slowed down and stopped pumping.... then the rice melted in my mouth, slipped it's way down through my belly then streamed directly to my veins and revived me. The bare rice was sweet, delicious and melted in my mouth, I almost wish I didn't put the soy sauce on it....almost.If you love rice, the Cuckoo is for you for you.

4.5 Stars Makes Tasty Rice!!
On the market for a rice cooker. It came down to this and the ever famous and well known Zojirushi. Decided to give this a try because it presented more features, looks better, and according to some better technology than the pressure cooker of the Zojirushi. Made rice porridge and short grain brown rice. Must say very tasty!! The same grain I been using with my Aroma Rice Cooker doesn't compare. So far so good. 4.5 Stars because I'm a bit skeptical of the inner rice pot durability. Owned product for less than a week and noticed a scratch at the bottom. Only used rice paddle and plastic nonstick ladle to scoop food. Been really careful washing it with a very soft, lathering sponge. I hope it holds up in the future. This was a big investment appliance for our family. It's not cheap!! Other than that, this rice cooker is perfect!!

Update: not recommended..
After 3 years the inner lining of the diashield pot started coming off and we can no longer use this rice cooker. Our last Cuckoo rice cooker lasted 7 years before it gave out, so this is a huge disappointment. What a waste of 450+ dollars! If another inner pot could be purchased for this exact model we could probably still use the cooker, but I can not seem to find one anywhere. :(

My last rice cooker was a simple one from Zoziruchi more than 10 years ago. It finally died. I had my eye on a similar Cukoo rice cooker as both my parents and sister have them. This rice cooker is awesome! I have consistently made perfect textured rice and even made paella one night! It feels a lot more beefy than my other one and lasts longer on keep warm without drying out-love this! You won'the go wrong with this one. I loved it so much I got one for my college age daughter to use in her apartment.

Failed after 3.5 years
Update: bought 3.5 years ago, and has now failed despite being well taken care of. (I think the pressure relief valve is stuck open.) That's not an acceptable lifetime for a high-end kitchen appliance. So the rating went from 5 stars to 2.Had one neurofuzzy Zojirushi after another for 15 years. This rice cooker is far more expensive but feels far more robust and higher quality, cooks brown rice in half the time, and the rice actually is much, much tastier. Many design features speak to the high quality, like the user serviceable seals. One minor issue is that the manual is pretty badly translated, and the English voice is annoying; I put it back on Korean despite not understanding a word! Lots of features I expect I'll never use but that's ok, it's still worth every penny.

Well worth the price!
My wife and I agree this is the best rice cooker we have ever owned - and we have had several over the years. My children tell each other that the rice cooker is smarter that they are. Excellent results every time, programmable for multiple languages, easy to use despite being very versatile.

Steam leak and ECO error - fixed
Purchased it on June 2014 here at Amazon. It is a great cooker. No question about it. As most people mentioned it is expensive though. Is it worthy or not? It depends. We use it almost every day. So it has paid off. I want to share a couple of common maintenance issues. First, after three years one day during rick cooking we saw steam leaking from the sides of the lid instead of top nozzle. The cover packing reached its life. New Cuckoo Dual Motion Rubber Pressure Cover Packing | CCP-DH10 fixed the problem. Today we got different issue. "ECO" error was displayed upon starting cooking. According to manual it happens when inner lid is not there. That was not the case.Long story short it was sensor issue. I removed the lid cover and found out a "yellow" line was cut. I reconnected it using Scotchlok. It was beautifully working again! It seems to be common issue. I came across another guy who had the exact same issue.
