Save time
Use this on our well water pump piping so I can add/remove components without cutting the pipes. Also, it makes it easier when repairing leaks. For example, after completing the installation of a new pump, there was a small leak at the pump outlet. I simply unscrewed this union apart, removed the pipe from the pump, added more plumbers tape and screwed it back in. Leak was fixed without cutting the piping or adding connections. Works well and I recommend it.

Good quality, but...
Good quality piece, but was missing it's o-ring. A trip to the hardware store resolved this, but better attention to detail by manuf. would be nice. Tell your assemblers to put down their phones while working.

NOT schedule 80
Grey union at right was the one received, advertised as schedule 80 and it was much thinner than a schedule 40 (center fitting) and not close to the original schedule 80 (left) that I was replacing. This fitting is very flimsy and I would not trust this fitting to hold any pressure.
