Essentials of Family Medicine (Sloane, Essentials of Family Medicine) Paperback – May 15, 2011

So depending on your school, the entire rotation final may come right from this book, especially the statistics and guidelines. Not fun to read or memorize, not useful for patient care but essential to get more than a pass.

So far I've read 6-7 chapters in the book. One thing that really bothers me is the in-text citations (ie, numbers) which have no corresponding publication/source in the book! Secondly, there are several errors in the form of typos, in tables/figures, and some ideas that should not be present in a textbook that has had a decent proof-read prior to publication. These may cause confusion as you study/read and takes some detective work to gain meaning.There is good general information in the book and also good flow of ideas in the writing.

This is a great text for medical students and an excellent review for a fourth year looking to start intern year. Lots of common sense "wisdom." -Fourth Year Med Student. Shipped as expected, quickly.

This is a fantastic book. I like all the information on medical screening. Easy to read and well written.

I like the book because it has a lot of important details and give me important details and different alternatives for the treatment.

I've just started reading this book. I'm an emergency doctor trying to get an impression of family medicine in the US. I have the kindle edition. The first thing I've noticed is that although there are references in the text, like this (3), they aren't linked to anything and the reference list is absent from either the end of the chapter or the book. As always, Amazon does a dismal job of making a textbook into an ebook, somehow managing to combine the worst of both worlds.

This book was a great tool in medical school and it taught me a great deal I hope you enjoy

Great review guide book for a physician in formation, but in a way it doesn't clarify things in a practical way that force the reader to search specific guidelines somewhere else.
