Great sprayer, absolute crap hoses
I’ve had this for a while and used it extensively. It’s a really great HPLV sprayer with good consistent pressure that’s wonderful for cabinet and door and trim work. It lays down Sherwin Williams Emerald and Gallery like a champ. However, the quality of hoses this thing comes with is absolutely sub par. After having two replacements with 2 days twice and 3 days of respective use on the whips (which are crap, they develop holes), then the entire hose connection developed a crack on the joint. It’s been kind of an endless expense of replacement components, and most paint stores don’t carry HPLV parts (even Amazon doesn’t have them all) so you can end up dead in the water for days while you wait or you end up having to stock a pile of spares —not cheap! We have been replacing these components with generics and components from Fuji, which are of much higher quality. Even the generics we bought off Amazon, like the 10 foot whip they sell, beats the pants off of Graco’s.They ought to be ashamed of the hoses they include with this thing, especially at the price point. It makes an otherwise good product into a real piece of junk, and spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars to replace “professional” gear that falls apart repeatedly tells me it’s just cheapness on the manufacturers part — they must get complaints all the time because the forums are filled with hose problems.I have no intention of contacting them or asking them to “make it right” because they should be holding themselves to a higher standard as a company with a reputation to protect, and every time I see one of these I have this conversation with the owner — everyone has these problems. So it’s not unknown.I would hesitate to buy this again. I think it’s a great production painter, but I don’t trust Graco anymore. The machine has been working a lot harder than it should have to since we bought it because of the constant air leaks (we always seem to be replacing the hose, and it takes days and days to show up).Between this and the problems we had with their drywall machine, it really feels like the MBAs have taken over and the cost cutting is happening at the company. It really sucks. They need to focus a little less on profit and a little more on quality because they are losing their reputation with people that used to call them the best in the business.Graco, from a formerly loyal customer who owns a lot of your equipment, hear me: details matter. They aren’t “consumables” the reliability of your sprayers *is* your brand, and when your components feel like Chinese knockoffs and don’t last two or three days on the job, it makes it impossible to stay loyal. Please get it together. If you’re thinking about buying an HPLV you won’t regret buying this one, but budget for replacing your whips and hoses upfront and don’t rely on the factory hoses and whip it ships with—you’ll regret it for all but the most DIY hobby use.
