Faux Ceiling Tile - 20x20 Margaretta White Foam

I have always wanted to put ceiling tiles in my house but they have always been very cost-prohibitive. Even for my small, 4' x 6' bathroom, ceiling tiles would have cost about $500 installed. Forget it if you want to do a larger area like a kitchen. I tried using wallpaper with a tile design as a way to fake having ceiling tiles, but didn't realize how difficult it was to wallpaper ceilings AND the result didn't look like ceiling tiles at all, just wallpaper on the ceiling! But several months ago, I came across this product. Since it is made with Styrofoam and only $2 per 20" square, I realized the tiles needed for my small bathroom would only cost $24 (12 tiles total). The description also says that you can install them easily with standard glue, rather than a track system or nails. So I decided I would try them first in my small bathroom that is rarely used, only because if the product was ugly or the installation was horrible, not too many people would see it. To make a long story short, the results were awesome. I added a small band of crown moulding around the edges of the ceiling and it looks like our ceiling was either original to the house or we paid hundreds of dollars to have it installed professionally. I am now doing our entryway using another design, and in the Spring I will be installing another style in the kitchen. I would recommend this to anyone. All you need is standard white craft glue, a straight edge and a razor or X-acto knife to cut to size. I tiled my bathroom in less than two hours.

Other review pictures convinced me to try these for a small powder room. I was pretty skeptical they'd look ok. They are very easy to work with to install. They are like gluing large sheets of styro egg carton up but about twice as thick as an egg carton (the flat lid part not the egg cups, that is). They look sort of cheesy until you paint them if you buy the plain ones, but once you finish them they are surprisingly beautiful. I can't speak for the pre-finished ones as I bought the unfinished ones and painted them. The look improves dramatically if you use a good surrounding trim and caulk all seams well. They are a lot of visual bang for the buck and easily mastered DIY with basic tools and skills. I wanted to share pictures to encourage others that you can get a great result on a budget with this product. I used White Lightning 3006 adhesive $2 a tube in caulk tubes - worked great. This project came in at about $100 total including tiles, trim, and adhesive/caulk. I already had the paint. I'm impressed with the results enough that I'm considering which pattern to buy for a much larger kitchen/nook/den ceiling.

These are a god-send if you've got an ugly ceiling. I put them over the top of the old Armstrong one-foot squares. They went up quickly, easily with nine little globs of glue on a tile. Its no trouble to cut them with a ruler and xacto knife. I was able to carefully remove and replace one while the glue was wet, without breaking it. There was plenty of time for adjusting and tweaking.Take the time to plan out your tile placement and you really can't screw this up. They are very slightly longer in one direction than the other, so try to use them all facing the same way. These are SO MUCH BETTER THAN THEY LOOK IN THE PICTURE, OR EVEN IN THE BOX. Up and painted, they look gorgeous. I'll be buying more.

These look amazing on my bathroom ceiling. Looks like the real thing! We painted them white using regular latex paint. No problems cutting them. We followed the directions given and installation was less then two hours. Easy and quick project! We live in an old victorian house and some of our ceilings are uneven with that ugly textured stuff. These tiles made covering all that up simple and it saved us from having to do extra work. I plan on using these tiles in other rooms of our house. Totally affordable home improvement project! Tiles came packaged well and arrived in a timely fashion. I definitely recommend these!

The tile looks great but some of the tiles had imperfections. The tile was very easy to cut and easy to install.

Good quality product, but very bad customer service. If you will order these tiles expect to get less product then you paid. Customer service will try to convince you than you can't count and will not return your money back.

I want to order more of them so I can put them in my kitchen ceiling and some other rooms in my house. It is beautiful!
