A gem that you will have as a favorite (5* Tuna cake recipe **)
Such a lovely cookbook and the Tuna Cake recipe is to die for! It is really good if you put it in a middle sized cake pan vs loaf pan so you can get more crunchy crust bottom and sides. It is one of my all time favorite recipes and requires no subs. The dip recipes are all spot on, the plum upside down cake, and so many more. I highly recommend if you love Middle eastern, Mediterranean, and African cuisine you have to get this so you can enjoy your favorites at home. The book in and of itself is pretty and giftable.

Great recipes
What I loved about this book that I got for my wife is hands down the recipes. Plenty of different and familiar recipes to get a different dish cooked for any occasion. I loved the fact that "HRH THE DUCHESS OF SUSSEX" was involved with this book so the dishes were simple and comforting. Love this book.

And don't forget the added benefit of the worthy cause to which the proceeds contribute.

Bringing The Community Together
In 2017 the Grenfell Towers in London had a massive fire with loss of life and many displaced people. The Hubb Community Kitchen in West London opened its doors to people and families, to come in and cook their family meals. The women, in particular, formed a close network, and continue to cook and bake for their community. In 2018 the Duchess Of Sussex made a visit to the mosque where the Community kitchen is located. She was so impressed with the work, and realized the need for funds to keep the kitchen open 7 days a week. The Royal Foundation stepped in and provided the funds. They are part of this book’s publication and funds from each book will go to the Chubb Kitchen. When you purchase a cookbook, you are giving back to these women. There are many photographs by Jenny Zarins of the women in the community, the food and recipes as they are being prepared, and, of course, Meghan, the Duchess Of Sussex. This cookbook is divided into Breakfasts,Snacks, Sharing Plates and DipsLunches and DinnersSalads and SidesDesserts and DrinksEach recipe has the metric system and the English version of measuring, so no need to worry. The recipes vary a great deal with many nationalities represented. The chocolate cake which looks easy to make and bake is mentioned many times. The Duchess likes a Green Chili and Avocado Dip and makes it in her own home she tells us. There are 127 pages of delicious looking food.Recommended. prisrob 10-03-18

Easy & Flavorful! Love it
Loved these easy recipes - 'Specially the vegetarian, particularly the cooking methods preparing eggplant for Baba Ganoush & the Masala. Wonderful collection of world cuisine, some of which I'd never have tried without buying another few cookbooks. I was thrilled when this book came back in print & so I could purchase. I'm so grateful that the Duchess of Sussex created this delicious opportunity to support a good cause!

Flavors of North Africa, Ethiopia, Egypt, South Asia and Persia
Well-played, Duchess. Grenfell Towers was a hip multi-culti Cool Britannia community. The women, apparently not yet properly rehoused, started gathering in a mosque kitchen to do home cooking and evoke their original overseas homes and the one they lost in London. What sticks in my mind are a gorgeous chickpea and vermicelli soup from North Africa, which starts out with a raw puree of all the aromatics and warm spices of....Morocco, I think, cooked down, an interesting technique new to me. Garnished with chopped dates and lemon wedges, yes please.Another gorgeous soup, a cream one with sauteed mushrooms, poached chicken shreds, and Egyptian spice. Nice Yemeni bread, carrot and onion naans or some kind of flatbread, yeast-raised pancakes with orange blossom ricotta and pistachio crumb....Russian semolina cake achieved by soaking the sem in its liquid for a while, and stunning, stunning Persian salads, lovely fresh crunchy, barberry-garnished rice dishes and huge roasted veg platters. They cook lots of lamb and chicken too, South Asian and North African style. There's an eggplant masala which seems a little labor-intensive for me but could be deconstructed into roasted cubes with masala paste, yoghurt/tahini mint? All in all a really good cookbook for modern women with very cosmopolitan backgrounds doing fusion Uganda/Tasmania/South Asian dishes to recreate their original homes overseas, as well as the polyglot paradise that neglect burned to the ground in London. Lots of the women modernize and fuse dishes, like the African who alchemized a labor-intensive peanut/chile sauce for stew meat into a quickly put together dip for vegetables and flatbreads. It evokes her home flavors. I like especially that each recipe carries its home cook's name and a little bit of her story. As others mention, measurements are both American-style and metric, which is thoughtful. Photos of food, cooks and family add warmth.God help us all.

I had to support this endeavour!
What a beautifully written cookbook! I admired most that portion of the proceeds is donated to give back to the community. As I go through the recipes, I found myself marking with stickies on multiple pages of tasty dishes that caught my attention. I’m always looking for new ways to prepare dishes and this book has quite a few to keep me busy for a while. Loved the photographs of all the ladies in the beginning and on each page, I’m fascinated reading their story for their contributing recipe. Brilliant!

Good ideas for get togethers
I live in a tourist resort town and come summer time everyone I know wants to swing by. I don't mind, but I need recipe ideas to entertain. This book is it!!! Plus a few easy weekday meal ideas. So...you want to help a community and yourself also, this little cookbook is a gem. I collect cookbooks, this one stands out!

Good value for money and a good book. Recipes are practical and affordable.
This is a good book with a few words from each person who gave the recipe . It made me feel like I knew them slightly . Nice easy family recipes -not too lavish or complicated -great for cooking for family and friends. It might be difficult to get all the ingredients if you don't live in a city but I had no trouble

Fantastically easy recipes and beautifully done
Beautifully detailed, very thoughtfully laid out so that the recipes are easy to follow. Only a bit of backstory here and there on each chef - which makes it interesting and personal - but nothing so much that it is in any way distracting. The recipes are laid out so that meal combinations are easily made - snacks and starters - separated according to type, then lunches according to type, dinners according to type, desserts, etc. Really just fantastic. The recipes are shockingly simple (which actually makes sense since these are meals that these families cook regularly), and the ingredients for the recipes are incredibly easy to find - nothing rare or complicated (unless you want very high-quality saffron). All in all, it’s a treasure of a find and a work of art all in one.
