A little unconventional but I used these hooks to secure ropes up a eucalyptus tree at my grandma's house that she wanted removing, predrilled a smaller pilot hole into sections of the tree and then wound these babies in using a long screw driver as a winding tool - secured ropes to these and then used a saw to chop the tree below the hook and had a couple of guys on the ground to take the weight of the tree sections and lower them down. These worked perfectly and although we bent a couple due to leaving quite a bit of the length of the bolt proud of the tree and thenbending when they had a lot of strain on them i managed to straighten them back out in a vice with a hammer. One of the bolts is still in the remaining section of the tree, approx 0.5mile from the sea and has not weathered at all, still as shiny as the day it went in so looks like real good quality stainless steel.
