Amazing Quality For The Price
This is a very high quality pen for the price. The fit, finish and workmanship is superb! The clip is strong and don't see it ever breaking. The cocking action is very smooth and has just the right amount of tension. Brass has a very nice smooth finish, but not too smooth for a good grip. This is not thin, cheap brass either! It's a heavy gauge with weight to it. In fact, the piston inside the pen that actually moves the ink cartridge up and down is brass as well. This pen is a tad top heavy but hardly noticeable at all. One thing to be aware of though, like another reviewer mentioned, is that the cocking knob will unscrew eventually and be lost, rendering the pen useless. This can be easily remedied by using a drop of Loctite or even your favorite glue. A feature that I really found to be exciting was that the writing tip of the ink cartridge actually sticks out far enough so you can see it when writing. This is something that even high end pens usually don't accomplish...they simply just don't pop out far enough. It uses standard Parker refils and writes very well. Overall, this pen is awesome and a real eye catcher! Worth every penny!

Trusty Companion
This pen is really quite well-made. All parts are well machined. The alloy it's made from is not quite like true brass, it doesn't patina as much as my other brass items, but it's strong and heavy, and probably more practical. The thinning towards the writing tip is not super comfortable but it provides good grip if the pen needs to be used for its secondary role. Didn't try to break any glass with it but it looks and feels capable.I liked it enough to purchase another pen from this brand... If you like heavy, sturdy metal pens- you found a good one. I recommend.P.S. The bolt action mechanism is smooth and indeed helps to keep hands occupied during certain occasions. The spring is decent. I only used it for over a week but absolutely don't see any signs of failure or lessening of the spring tension. WD-40 helped to "break" it in, but it worked quite fine without any lubricant to begin with. Not necessary but kind of fun?

Solid build quality, writing tip seal is underwhelming
This pen is well made overall, a smooth bolt action mechanism. I recommend as soon as get it, as have previous reviews, to unscrew the bolt (don’t take the pen apart yet) put a tiny dot of loctite on the threaded end of the bolt. Screw the bolt back into the action, until it won’t turn any more. Next twist off the crown, with the lanyard hole in it, at the top of the pen (the pocket clip will also detach. Set it nearby. Wrap the exposed threads of the removed crown in a layer or 2 of Teflon tape. Align the pocket clip so the crown can be screwed back in place, if any teflon tape is viable once the crown won’t screw down any more. Remove the tip completely and adjust the teflon tape accordingly, until no tape is viable with the crown screwed all the way in. The writing end of the pen is last not least. Unscrew the lower tip of the pen, Remove the ink cartridge and spring. Set them close by. As with the crown, wrap a layer or 2 of teflon tape. I don’t recommend removing the red circular seal first. Let it be. Put the ink cartridge and spring back in, screw the pen tip back in until it won’t turn anymore. If any teflon tape is visible unscrew the pen tip and adjust the tape accordingly. Test each end of the pen separately. The threads should hold in place, until you use firm pressure while unscrewing the crown and writing tip. The attached image is an example of a width of teflon tape to use.

Nice pen. Nice price.
First thought, decent quality & weight. I am VERY selective when it comes to pens. This pen does write smooth. No chunks of ink. It is solid brass. I write a lot at work but not continuously so I don't expect the brass to cause smelly hands as others have stated.I will HIGHLY suggest, like others have mentioned, to secure the ball with Super Glue or LockTite immediately. It was VERY loose right out of the box. The weight is nice and there is no coating to cause it to slip when writing. The bolt action functions well.I'm considering adding a D-ring to the hole at the top as I personally can't write with a lanyard or paracord attached.I gave only 4 stars due to the ball not being secured. Should this come detached and not fall into your pocket...you're be REALLY irritated.

SmootherPro solid brass bolt action pen
This is the second Smootherpro pen I have purchased on Amazon. The other was SS. At under $15, this solid brass pen is an incredible value. The quality of the machining and the bolt action is every bit as good as a $99 brass bolt-action pen I purchased. The machining on the pen body is meticulous in every respect. There was not one flaw I could find. And I own about 30 metal pens so I know what to look for.I bought this pen because it has a lanyard hole in the top. I don't intend to use the pocket clip. However the pocket clip is sturdy and durable. It is easily removable with no slots at the end of the pen body and the end cap screws back on flush.Don't believe the other reviews that say this pen is low quality. It is first-rate. It has an uncoated raw brass finish which is beautifully polished. The pen is very comfortable to hold. The pen comes with a decent no-name Parker style black ballpoint refill installed and and an identical spare refill in the box. Both have wax on the tips to prevent them from drying out in shipping. The foam insert that comes in the quality box even has a nice cut out that cradles the pen.I would highly recommend this pen and give it a 5-star rating without hesitation. I paid full price for this pen and have no association with the manufacturer.

Be aware - the barrel screw will unthread itself very easily
Solid design, weight, and feel are excellent. The mechanism functions well. The mfg added a o-ring so that the pen barrel does not unthread itself - nice feature. The only issue is the latching barrel screw, it will unthread itself easily (right handed thumb actuation). I added a small amount of thread lock to the barrel screw and that fixed it. The mfg should be able to fix this easily during assembly.
