No Regrets
Having read several "just okay" reviews I decided to pull the trigger on this anyway and WOW.First off, know that this will need a good 2 or 3 full regenerations (this will take about half a day in total) before the Katalox stops making the water milky. After that it's good to go. It installs just like a standard softener which takes all of about 10 minutes if you're using flex lines. It's dead simple. The difference this thing makes is phenomenal. I cleaned all my tubs and toilets with iron-out shortly after this was installed. We had problems with all of the above going cheez-it orange in under a week. Seriously, our shampoo bottles were horrifying.I've had this in for almost 2 months now and there is not a trace of orange in sight. The water that used to taste like a mouth full of pennies is now absolutely refreshing, odorless, and crystal clear. The only beef I have with this is that the air intake spits a little bit of water every time the regen cycle starts. I have resolved this by replacing the little filter with a small (3 or 4 inch) snorkel of half inch plastic pipe which is ample to catch this water where it is sucked back in seconds later.I have also seen and read stories of how this might totally plug with iron sludge in a few years. But see, I have no issue twisting the tank off, dragging it upstairs, hosing out the catalyst and dumping in some fresh Katalox Light every few years just to keep it working. It certainly costs a LOT less than a peroxide system and it works fantastically. I will try to update this review in a few years to let you know how it's going and whether that is necessary.

Works great!!
I had a water test done for my well system and noticed high levels of iron and manganese. No sulfer smell.. water was clear and taste good but inside the toilet tanks and lining the pipes is black/ grey deposits.. Id clean inside the tanks but after 3 months the tank walls were full black again and little specs would go into the bowl once flushed. The toilet bowls would also get a rust ring in less than a week from cleaning. Ive searched different systems but they were all 3k+ so ive just dealt with it. Personally I dont like soft water so i needed a different solution for a reasonable price… Finally got sick of all the unnecessary cleaning and worried about the long term health effects of manganese. Finding this air injection system for under 1k was a no brainer to try.. I really wish i found this sooner. Been running it for 30 days now and toilet tanks couldn't be cleaner. No black and No rust rings in the toilet bowls either!!!! Black specks gone!! I cant speak for the longevity of the system yet but im more than happy with the results. Did have an issue at first with the auto regen feature but it was due to my failure to program it correctly. Customer service was amazing and helped me fix it with 1 call. Again i wish i found it sooner

NO MORE IRON STAINS
I've had this filter for 6 weeks. So far it has lived up to my expectations. My water was awful. I did alot of research and water test. I had to replace my steel well pressure tank every 2 years because they would rot out. I switched to a stainless pressure tank to fix that issue. Unfortunately I was making my iron problems worse with a steel pressure tank. Making my iron and TDS off the charts. I would recommend that buying a filter system might only be part of your problem. Need to do your research and plan accordingly. This filter was a great solution for my water issues. I'm extremely satisfied with its preference. Will see about the longevity. Glad my bathroom toilet and tub no longer have the brown iron stain.

Seems effective so far
This has worked well for me for around two months since I installed it. I think that it helped remove a very serious hydrogen sulfide smell, and also helps reduce the iron in our water. I'm not 100% sure how much credit I should give to this device, because I also replaced the hot water heater anode rod and a few canister filter cartridges at the same time. It's very hard to find information about this type of device. The head seems to be a standard water softener head with some minor modifications, most noticeably, where a plastic tube would draw brine from the brine tank, there is instead an air intake (a screw-in metal fitting covered with a screen). There is also a plastic strainer basket in the mouth of the tank that I think aids in aerating the water. It's somewhat overpriced given what it is, but it performs well and is easy to install, so I still feel that it was worth it. Note that some other sellers have a similar device that uses an aeration stone in the tank to get even more oxidation. I didn't know about those units until after I bought this one, but I probably would have gone for one of those had I known.
