Very Easy Install. Fixed my washer
My washer was having a hard time on the spin cycle so after reading a lot about these machines I decided to buy it.This replacement was better than the one I removed. The center gear piece is metal the old one was plastic and wearing down.We immediately noticed a difference and the washers are faster since it doesn't have the load imbalance issue, and quieter, and dryer after the wash is done. The spin really works well nowIt is SUPER EASY to install. You need a screwdriver to remove the back panel. A 17mm socket wrench to remove the bolt. Plus an extra set of hands to hold the piece in place as you remove the bolt. It would be hard to do alone.Saved a lot of money doing this on our own.Highly recommended!

Go ahead, do it, buy this part and fix your washer, because it's that easy.
Part Trader - Fast Shipping (FEDEX!!) and easy purchase of course. The part fit and now my washer sounds better than new.The part - The rotor assembly appears to be redesigned. The original part, looking at the "gear" or teeth, was both white plastic and some kind of black material. It was stripped out, so the rotor would spin without the tub. It took over 5 years for this to happen. As such, I even ran out of our extended warrantee. (Good Job LG - Sarcasm) It would appear this is meant to happen and is a sacrificial part of the rotor, for two reasons. 1) To prevent motor burnout I guess. The motor has a 10 year warrantee. 2) To make a few extra bucks. Sure they could sell a piece of plastic, but no they have to include the magnets and half of what makes up a motor. I digress. The new part, made, May 5th 2015, is "brand new" The entire gear teeth is made out of this black material, about an 1/8th inch all around. Significantly more than what was on the original component. Therefore I hope this is a permanent fix. Conclusion - LG offered a 10 year warranty on the direct drive motor. However In all my motor experience, the rotor should be included in this warranty. Regardless, the cost of the part, and ease of repair, it is still cheaper than messing with the warranty. According to our repair guy, over the phone, he suggested the cost would be around $140 for the repair, which included an $80 diagnostic, applied to the final bill - if under warranty. Fair is fair, he needs a job, but not while I can do it. I feel duped, from the standpoint that LG engineered the washer this way. If they sold the plastic part for $6, by itself, I would sing praises to them. But, no, they didn't do it. The MSRP of the part is $100, and we are getting it for little more than half that. Which means the repair guy should charge about $300 for parts and labor. It's not a $300 job, if you ask me. It's easier than changing a tire.

Great product! No complaints here!
A lot of the reviews on here are complaining about the fact that LG does not sell just the hub. Come on people this is a repair for a near thousand dollar washing machine for under 100 bucks. We were washing along and all of a sudden the machine started making a horrible sound similar to a coffee maker on steroids crossed with Frankenstein. No more spinning either. Upon a search of YouTube for lg washer repair I found out about this piece. I opened the back access panel and removed the 17 mm bolt and examined the rotor assembly and noted that the splines were in fact ground down due to the bolt loosening. I ordered this rotor from Amazon and selected overnight delivery (I refuse to go to a laundry mat). The next day (Saturday) FedEx showed up and within 5 minutes I am washing a load of clothes! (NOTE!!! Please be sure to have some thread locker to keep the bolt tight to avoid this miss-hap in the future!) Yes they could sell just the hub, they do not however..... This is a cheap fix even at 70 bucks for a great washing machine.

Easy to install
This replacement part is a perfect match to the original, and took less than five minutes to install. In reality, the process took three days and 10 minutes (not counting the two hours on the phone with LG customer service). Five minutes to pull the washer away from the wall, shut off the water, remove the back panel (4 screws) and remove the broken rotor (one bolt). then three days waiting for the replacement to arrive from Amazon, and five minutes to replace the broken rotor (one bolt), reinstall the back cover (4 screws), turn on the water, and slide the washer back against the wall. This part is covered under LG's 10-year warranty, and my washer is five years old. Unfortunately, LG will not provide a replacement part unless you go through one of their authorizes service technicians. You can't even take the part into some service center for a replacement, or send it back to LG for a refund. The only way to get it replaced under warranty is to have a service technician come to your house and diagnose the problem and make the request to LG for warranty replacement. Unfortunately, the cost for such a diagnostic call is $100, and LG does not cover labor for warranty claims after the first year.So instead of paying a local technician a $100 in labor to tell me what I already know, the rotor is broken, I opted to purchase the part online and install it myself to save at least $20.Although I understand LG's need to protect itself from bad people trying to commit fraud by claiming parts are broken when they are not, I think they could have done several things that would have kept me a happy customer. First, they could have done a simple part exchange, letting me buy the part format hem and then refunding me the money when I returned the defective part. Or they could have requested a photo or some other evidence that the part was broken. However, their inability to modernize their archaic business practices by forcing their customers to rely on third parties to perform the most basic task leads me to conclude that LG as a company is indeed evil. Why build a good product that is highly serviceable, and then prevent your customers form servicing it themselves unless you are evil?Come on LG, wake up and join the modern world and save your customers! Right now, I hate you!
