Franco's New Orleans Style Hurricane Cocktail Mix, 9 Ounces - Makes 1 Quart (Packaging May Vary)

This packet is for a one gallon portion of Hurricane mix. It’s hard to believe that by adding water to a powdered mix you end up with such a flavorful product. We’ve been to New Orleans several times and had Hurricanes from many bars including Pat O’briens where the original Hurricane was created and using this mix recreates the drink nicely.

Some will say the Hurricane is too strong but no, they are wrong. You should be using half high proof aged rum and half standard white rum. Use that mix and this mix is perfect for you!

Since having to cancel my annual vacation to New Orleans it had left me a little down, and missing some NOLA fun. So what do you do?! BOOM! Order some Hurricane and Cyclone mix, Instacart some liquor from BevMo, and throw a banger in your alley! Check out my pics. This stuff is tasty AF and all of my guests enjoyed them. It's since become a weekly tradition in my alleyway. Pro-tip: add a tad bit less liquor then it calls for and substitute with more water. Trust me. Three weeks in, back in May, I cracked the code. Another pro-tip: cut up some fruit and get some cherries. Make it more than just a two-step powdered-drink mix cocktail.

Really sweet so I would suggest cutting it with sparkling or flat water. It added a nice touch to our celebration.

OK, the mix tastes a lot like red. But in the background is some passion fruit. Way in the background. When I am going for a bona fide hurricane I tend to use a slight teaspoon (the stuff is potent) with 1/4 ounce passion fruit puree which makes me think I am at Pat O's. Now if you are having a party, mix it according to directions and collect the GoPros and car keys before you serve it. The party will likely be epic.

I've never tasted a Hurricane. I was looking for a reasonably priced powdered drink mix for something new and different. Unfortunately, this stuff may become an obsession. It will definitely become a staple. Having never had the real thing I can't speak to it's authenticity, but I can speak to it's great taste.
