Vornado makes the BEST fans - period
On high, this Vornado 279 large panel fan whips up a very strong breeze that keeps me cool in the kitchen, even on the hottest days. On med and low it's whisper quiet, yet still moves a considerable amount of air. The control for the fan is on top, a touch pad strip with three speeds and ON/OFF. It responds instantly and reliably. The fan turns on at its fastest speed. The base is compact and fits in tight spaces, which is not true of Vornado shop fan. The 279 also tilts so you can get the airflow exactly where you want it. This is the fourth Vornado fan I own. Their reliability is bullet-proof and the build quality never disappoints. Of course I run air conditioning when the heat gets unbearably wicked, but I much prefer a fan and a cool breeze to A/C.

Tornado Fan
I have bought three of these fans. One Large and one small from Amazon. One large my sister got for me from Costco. The small is almost silent on High. The large is silent on low, and gets louder as you go up from medium to high. But compared to other fans I own like Honeywell high velocity fans, not only are they quieter they are much stronger. These fans are simply put, like standing in front of a tornado. They push air and circulate it through the room like no other fan I've owned. It was actually my sister that turned me on to these. I haven't had them long enough to speak about longevity. But I'm hoping they'll hold up. So far so good. I do have to add one thing. The Large fan at Costco is only $40.00, and on sale for $30.00. The Prices on Amazon range from 60 -98 bucks each.. still compared to the fans these are a great buy. They seriously move air quietly. The buttons are on the top left edge and are push button. Like the type on a Smart TV. The Fan hinges upward and down around 45 degrees give or take but does not swivel right or left. Only con, they seem a bit over priced. So look good, because there are different listings for the same fan on Amazon at different prices.

Disappointing
For something called Vornado which I assume is a pun on Tornado, this fan doesn't even come close. Totally overpriced for what it is advertised as.You will get more breeze from a $19 box fan at Walmart. The build quality of this is excellent, but that's it. I was looking for something that moved air like a "Tornado", and it failed to impress.
