Great compliment for a standard HDD
I was looking for a way to improve the throughput for a standard (platter) hard drive. I installed this 64GB M10 Optane card on a Windows 10 system that had a Seagate Ironwolf 10TB HDD. It definitely made a measurable improvement. I've included results of the test I did with CrystalDiskMark. The lower one (obviously) is before I added the Optane card and the higher one is with the Optane card configured and assigned to the Seagate drive. Granted benchmarks are an artificial test and this doesn't reflect "real world" results. But file copying to the Optane accelerated drive is about 40% faster.Make sure your system is compatible with Optane. In my case my Asus motherboard had an option for Optane in the BIOS. Then you also need to get the correct version of the Optane card. This should be listed at the motherboard's manufacturers website. The M10 in this case. So, do your homework before you spend your money.Next you need to the the current drivers and management application for your system from the Intel website. This card arrives with no documentation. My first download apparently was for another motherboard type. But I eventually got the correct version.Intel states that Optane is also useful to work with a SSD drive. I suspect you might see a slight improvement. But it really performs well with the slower traditional hard drives and makes a lot more sense to spend money on this.

It worked!
To my surprise after installing and with an Intel driver download it worked right away. I am crystal diskmarked at 3x the read and write on an HDD 7200 spin drive. You can turn off the memory boost in their program to see the difference and re-benchmark. In all fairness, I am running a current system with built in m.2 port and approved for Optane Memory. If you don't install the intel program your system will see it as 64gb memory drive which you don't want.

This is not RAM memory. It speeds up the read function of standard hard drives
I'm still evaluating this type of memory.
