A Helpful and Straightforward Guide for Boys
I got this book for my son because I wanted him to have something clear and honest to read as he starts going through puberty. I looked through it first, and I was impressed by how simple and age-appropriate the explanations are. It covers all the basics—body changes, mood swings, friendships, and even the stuff that can be awkward to talk about, like crushes or sex, in a respectful way

Great guide!!!
This book really breaks down the stages of puberty in a simple and straightforward way, making it easy to understand. It goes over topics from body changes and emotions to friendships, social media, and family dynamics, and more. The simple and informative illustrations explain "awkward-to-talk-about" topics like erections, etc.. Great guide for boys to read and also for parents wanting to know how to address these topics with their kids.

Sensitive and "awkward" topics told in a fun way
If you're a parent who's trying to figure out how to best approach puberty and the "birds and the bees" talk, try this book out. The "cartoony" style breaks the ice, making it easy to have matter-of-fact discussions without "weirdness." I read the book with funny character voices, turning sensitive topics into a laughing fiesta. The book says it's for 8-14—I'm not too sure about this. Yes, the writing style is appropriate for this wide age category, but there are some topics where parents might not want their 8-year olds to know about (yet). For me, I wound't discuss those topics until maybe 12. So, if you have a child on the lower end of the age range, I recommend reading this book with them. Great book.

A Warning to Open Minded Parents and Guardians
Wanted to find a book to educate my preteen son. Imagine glad I read through it first. In the chapter “Sex Explained” this book warns in big red letters “it’s illegal to engage in physical activity before turning 16-18, depending on which state you are in.” Scaring kids and making them think sex and physical activity is “bad” can lead to an unhealthy mentality about sex in the longer term. Seems like an old fashioned, unrealistic and harmful mindset. Yes, they should wait, of course, but why? Because it’s illegal? No. Teach them about the real potential consequences and about safe sex, about what it means mentally and physically, not just that it’s against the law and they could get in trouble… Just not a great way of educating them, especially if reading this book is the first time they learn about sex at all. Returned.
