Purple dye has more issues than others; plan and prepare, but oh so worth it!
This alcohol-based dye smells exactly like that weird smell that emanates from every pore of a hard-core alcoholic. I wasn't prepared for that since I had used the Pro Fiebings in the past and it was an unexpected yuk trigger. The color is WOW vibrant, like the Coach ultraviolet, which they only offered for a short time on a few designs. Now you can have anything in that color! If you read the other reviews, you'll find that even with a thorough deglazing, if you're re-dyeing something with purple, you may end up with metallic splotches. Indeed, that is what happened to me with a pebbled white Sonoma Coach purse. It took an entire bottle to get something even close to even coverage. I had a dull finish with the metallic splotching and thought I'd have to toss the purse as a failed experiment.Amazingly, a similarly overdone application of Resolene finish did a rather miraculous job of evening out the tone. Here is the 'your mileage may vary' caveat: this may not replicate if you do things the 'right' way. In this case, it was a happy accident. The dye really wasn't dry, but having concluded this was already a lost cause, I figured I'd seal it properly before donating to Goodwill.First variable: dye was still quite damp. It had absorbed and was evenly dull looking, but still damp. As I was applying the Resolyne, I knocked the bottle over, completely drenching the purse. That seemed to reliquify some of the dye as I rubbed it all over trying to get everything evenly soaked. This may account for the surprising fix. It did turn out very shiny, but I am happy with it.

Good coverage and ease of use
I decided to change the color on a pair of shoes from red to purple. It was so simple with some alcohol to remove the old color and then applied the purple shoe dye. Must be careful to not overcolor or will turn yellow. Then some shoe conditioner and they looked great. For less than $20 a new pair of dress shoes.

Shoe saver!
I bought the purple dye. I had a pair of old pink Rainbow flip flops that were dirty and ugly. I wanted purple and Rainbow does not make purple so I decided to try this since I wasn't going to wear them as they were. It works wonderfully. The color is nice and even and vibrant. There was an odd copper sheen before I buffed and sealed. It buffed out some but when I used the acrylic resolene sealer by this brands it went away and the color was much brighter and perfect. Definitely get the sealer. I am so happy with them I am buying some brown to use on my other rainbows.

Good Dye
I am a holster maker - I use Fiebings dye on all of products. This is a good dye but you must really shake up the bottle in order for the color to come out even. More so with this color than the Black and Browns that I typically purchase (one off customer request for purple). Color is more dark than light and looks good. Just remember to really shake the bottle up before application.

Beautiful color, very rich
This purple is so rich and beautiful. I used it on a hand bound leather book I was making. The dye was applied to vegetable tanned calfskin. Be mindful of how much dye is on your sponge, it can go on very strong, very easily.I did notice that in the spots where I got more on than I intended, it had this really interesting gold sheen to it once it dried. A neat effect if that’s what you are aiming for. This sheen did go away almost completely once I applied a coat of Resolene to the leather.

great colour
i got this to try on some leather. colour is so cool. As with any leather dye dont get it on your skin (skin is leather). you will have purple sploges for ages.but to the dye.two coats on neutral 3.6mm veg tanned leather gave a deep purple.TEST it out on scrap leather first. This has got to be the best i have used so far. well worth it money.
